Making/An swering Calls 16 Key lock The handset can be locked so t hat no calls or settings ca n be made. I ncoming calls can be answered, but all ot her functions are disabled while key lock is on. T o turn key lock on, press 8 (middle soft key) for ab out 3 seconds.

Phonebook 18 Chain dial This feature allows you to dial phone numbers in the phonebook while you ar e on a call. This f eature can be used, for example, to dial a calling card access number or bank account PIN that you have stored in the phonebook, without having to dial manually .
Programming 19 Programmable settings Y ou can cust omise the unit by programming th e following features using t he handset. Programming 21 Special programming Alarm Y ou can set one of 2 different alarm options (once or daily) at a tim e for each handset. An alarm sounds at the set time for 3 minutes.

Programming 23 Registering a unit Registering a handset to the base uni t The supplied handset and base unit are pre-registered. If for some reason the handset is not regist ered to the base unit (for example, w flashes even when the handset is near the base unit), re- register the handset .

Answering System 27 Answering system The answering system can answer and record calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone. Y ou can also set the unit to play a greeting message but not to record caller messages by selecting “ Greeting Only ” as the recording time setting (page 32).

V oice M ail Service 33 V oice mail service V oice mail is an automatic answering service offered by your service provider/ telephone company . After you subscribe to this service, you r service provider/ telephone company’s voice mail system answers calls f or you when you are unavailable to answer the phone or when your line is busy .
Inte rc om/ Loca tor 34 Intercom Intercom calls can be made between handsets. Note: L If you receive an outside call while talking on the intercom, you hear interrupt tones. T o answer the call, press {ih} , th en press {C} . L When paging the handset, the paged handset beeps for 1 m inute.

Useful Inform ation 36 Character entry The dial keys are used to enter characters and numbers. Each dial key has multiple characters assigned t o it. The c harac ters that can be entered depend on t he character entry mode (page 36). –P r e s s {^} or {V} to move the cursor left or right.
