19 Loading Documents on the Flatbed One sheet or an entire book document can be scanned on the document glass. Scanning documents in this wa y is kn o wn as “scanning with the flatbed”. Caution ≥ Do not place flopp y disks or any items containing magnetic data strips on the flatbed .

22 Changing the Reference Plate Setting Y ou can choo se a background color to be scanned from whi te (blac k) to blac k (white ). The scanne r comes from fac- tor y set to black. The reference plate (B), reference plate (F) and flat bed sheet se tting must be cha nged simulta- neously .

24 Clearing Paper Jams T orn documents, th in docume nts or d ocuments that are cr eased on the top edge may cause paper j ams. If a paper jam occur s, remove the jammed sh eet accordi ng to the following pr ocedure. ∫ Removing paper jams from the document feeder 1 Push the ADF door r elease to open the ADF door .
