You can watch images in high-resolut ion HD video if you connect this unit and a high definition TV and then play back the images.

Rotate the lens hood counter-clo ckwise A to remove it. In order to attach it, pl ace into slot B , and then rotate it clock wise C .

22 VQT1A15 Before us ing ≥ Still pictures cannot be recorded on a disc with t his un it. ≥ You cannot record or play continuously from one side of the disc to t he other when using a double sided disc. You will need to eject the disc and turn it over.
23 VQT1A 15 Bef or e u si ng When using DVD-RAM or DVD-RW, form at the disc. When a brand-new DVD- RAM or DVD-RW is inserted in this unit, the screen shown in the illustration may be displayed. Move the cursor button up or down to select [YES], then p ress the cursor butto n.

26 VQT1A15 Setup Setu p Charging the battery When this unit is purchased, the battery is not charged. Charge the battery before using this unit. ≥ If the DC cable is connected to the AC adaptor, then the battery will not charge. Remove the D C cable from the AC adaptor.
Setup 27 VQT1A 15 Charging time and rec ordable time ª About batteries that you can use with this unit The Panasonic battery that can be used with this unit is VW-VBG260 . VW-VBG260 comes with a f unction to check whether the battery and unit can be safely us ed together.
28 VQT1A15 Setup ≥ The batteries heat up after use or charging. This unit will also heat u p while being used. This is not a malfunction. ≥ Be aware that the operating time of t he battery will become shorter in low temperatures. We recommend charging a spare battery for use when recording.
29 VQT1A 15 Setup Selecting a mode (Turning the unit on/off) Rotate the mo de dial to switch to rec ording, playback, PC connection or power OFF. ≥ Rotate the mode dial slowly.
30 VQT1A15 Setup When the mode dial is set to , the power ca n be turned on and off wit h the LCD monitor and the viewfinder. ª To turn on the power Open the LCD monitor or extend the viewfinder. The status indicator A lights and the power turns on. ≥ It lights up when the viewfinder is extended with the LCD m onitor closed.

38 VQT1A15 Setup Using the menu screen Refer to “Menu list” ( l 102) for information about the menus. 1 While stopped, press the MENU button. The menu disp layed differs depending on the position of the mode dial. ≥ Do not sw itch the mode dial whe n the menu is displayed.
39 VQT1A 15 Setup To exit the menu screen Press the MENU button. ≥ The menu screen does not appe ar during recording or playing. You cannot start ot her operations while the m enu screen appears. The menu screen t ransition is the same as w hen the buttons on the main unit are used.

Recording 43 VQT1A 15 Recording Before recording 1 Hold the unit with both hands . 2 Put your hand through the grip belt. 3 Do not c over inlet A or outlet B of the cooling fan with your hand as it will prevent heat release. If heat builds up inside the unit, it could be damag ed.

73 VQT1A 15 Playback (RAM) (-RW) (-R) (-RDL) If playback of a scene was stopped halfway, the playback can be resumed from where it was stopped. Press th e MENU butto n, then select [PLAY SETUP] # [RES UME PLAY] # [ON] and press the cu rsor button. If playback of a motion picture is stopped, [ ] appears on the thumbnail view of the stopped scene.
74 VQT1A15 Playback ≥ If 9 or more files have been recorded, the next (or previous) page can be displayed by moving the c ursor button left and right or moving the cursor button down, select ing [ ]/[ ] by moving the cursor button left and right and then pressing the centre of t he cursor button.

81 VQT1A 15 Disc and car d management Finalizing a disc (-RW) (-R) (-RDL) If you insert a DVD-RW , DVD-R or DVD-R DL disc recorded in this unit (th at has not been finalized) into another device such as DVD recorder, computer, etc., the disc may become unusable.
