12 Getting St arted First-time Operation Read the steps below to help you learn what parts are included, and to gain an understanding of some basic computer -related operations. 1 Confirm the inclusion of all p art s. Make sure the parts shown in the figure have been supplied.
13 Getting St arted Connect your computer to a power outlet. CAUTION Be sure the AC adaptor is connected until completing the first-time use opera- tion. When using the computer for the first time, do not connect any peripheral de- vice except the battery pack and AC adaptor to the computer.

21 Operation Use a RAM module meeting the RAM module specifications below . If a module is used that does not meet the specifications, there are cases in which data may become unusable or the computer may not operate properly . RAM module specifications: ( page 43 ) 172 pins, Micro DIMM, 2.
22 Operation RAM Module 4 Press the RAM module down until the right and left hooks (G) lock into place. When pressing down the module, the right and left hooks will open slightly and will return after locking. 2 Place the RAM module lightly in parallel with a slot.
23 Operation Removing the RAM module 1 Gently open the left and right hooks (H). The RAM module will be raised at an angle. 2 Gently remove the RAM module from the slot. 4 Put the cover back in place. 1 Insert the cover at an angle, then fit it into place.
24 Operation Environment Place the computer on a flat stable surface. Do not place the computer upright or allow it to tip over . When the computer receives extremely strong shock after falling, the hard disk may become inoperable.

38 Appendix Hard Disk Backup Function The hard disk backup function creates a backup area (storage area) on the hard disk. This area is to back up (store) hard disk contents or restore backed up contents to their original locations.
