Safety and general information Exposure to Radio Fr equency (RF) energy Y our radio contains both a receiver and transmitter . When it is turned on it receives and transmits RF energy . Y our Oricom unit is designed to comply with local regulatory r equirements concerning exposure of human beings to RF energy (Specific Absorption Rate Data (SAR).
Installing the batteries Each radio uses one Ni-Mh rechar geable battery pack (not supplied). Or three AA alkaline batteries (not supplied). W arnings • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not charge alkaline batteries they could explode and cause injury .
Using your Oricom PMR888 T urning your radio on and off T urn the volume button clockwise to turn your radio on. The radio chirps and the display will briefly show all feature icons that your radio has available. T urn the volume button anticlockwise until it clicks to turn your radio off.
2. Press and hold “PTT” and speak into the microphone. The LED indicator light glows continuously when transmitting. 3. T o receive messages, release “PTT”. Note: If the PTT is held down for longer than 60 seconds a tone will be heard, the unit will stop transmitting and return to standby mode.
Y ou can specify a different code for each channel. 1. T o set a channel and code combination, press once and then press or to select the channel. 2. Press again and then pr ess or to select a code. 3. The radio does not support interference eliminator codes on channels 5 or 35.
Select call tone 1. With the radio on, press three times until “C” ap pea rs in the display . 2. Current call tone setting will begin to flash. 3. Pr ess or to change and hear the call tones while the setting number is flashing. 4. Pr ess “PTT” to set a new call tone.
