Lift the recei ve r ’s FRONT SPEAKERS A R (+) red lever and insert the ridged or color-coded conductor ’s end into t he sm all hole.

14 Pre pari ng Your Re cei ver Using the AC Power O utlet Y our receiver has an AC power outlet that you c an use to power another elec- tronic device, such as a turntable, cassette deck, or so on. This switched outlet turns o n an d off with the receiver an d provi des a maxim um of 10 0 Watts.
1 5 Basi c Op erat ion Note: The controls on the remote control work t he sam e as the buttons on the receive r ’s f ron t panel. Follow these steps to use the receiver . 1. Press POWE R to t urn on th e receiver ’s power . It takes about 5 seconds to begin he aring sound.
16 Bas ic Op er ati on Balance Control The BALANCE control lets you adjust the sound balance betwee n the left and right speakers. If you properly position the speakers and yo ur listening area is centered b etween t hem, the cent er control setti ng is usua lly best (see “Pos ition- ing Speake rs” on Pa ge 5 ) .

2 3 Usin g the R emote C ont rol The remote cont rol works up to a di sta nce of about 23 feet, and within a 30-de- gree angl e on e ither side of t he receive r . P oint the cont rol at the receiver ’s front panel and press the desired button(s). Many but tons on t he remote con trol work the same as buttons on t he receiver ’ s front pa nel.
2 4 Using the Remote Control CD Pla yer Sectio n Before operat ion: •P r e s s CD to select the CD p layer op eration. •S e t AUDIO / SURROUND to AUD IO . • Y ou must connect the CD player to both y our receiver ’s C ONTROL OUT and audio jacks for t h es e functions to work.
