13 Changin g the Preset Graphic E qualizer S ettings The Syste m 731 has three pres et graphic equal izer setting s to let you vary the bal ance of sound produced over these f ive sound frequencies — 70 H z , 300 Hz , 1 KHz, 3.5 KH z , and 10 KHz. These settings are de signed to g ive you the best s ound f or rock, pop, and classical m usic.
14 RADIO OPERA TI ON LI ST EN IN G TO T H E RADIO 1. Repeatedly press TUNER to select the desired band. Select AM f or AM s tations, or FM 1 or FM2 fo r F M stations. As you press it, AM , FM1 or FM2 an d the la st selected station i n that band appear on the display .
15 • T o improve reception for weak FM st ereo stations, press MODE so MO NO (monaural) appears o n the display . The soun d is no longer in ste reo, but reception should im prove. T o return to stereo sound, press MODE again. • For the bes t FM recep tion, fully extend the FM antenna.

17 CD CHANGER OPERA TIO N The S ystem 731 lets you load up to seven CDs at once and gives you many opt ions to control the wa y it plays them . Note : You can play a 3-inch CD in your System 731, but you must load it in CD tray position 1 (see “Loading and P laying a CD”).
18 6. T o play the la st loaded CD, press PLA Y , or CD on th e remote control. T o play a different CD, press the desired DISC NUMBER , or press DISC then t he disc nu mber on the re mot e c on t ro l, to se le ct th e CD. Then press PLA Y , or press CD on the rem ote c on- trol to b egin play .
19 SPECIAL CD CHANG ER FEA TURES Autom atic Sea rch Mu sic System (ASMS ) The automati c search musi c system lets you skip forward or bac kward through the t racks on all loaded CDs. • T o ret u rn to the beginning of the current trac k during pl ay , p ress and re lease SKIP << , or CD << on the remote cont rol.

23 Notes : • I f you rem ove a CD, the CD chan ger autom atically skips that disc’s tracks in t h e sequ ence. • W hen p ower is disconnected or interrupted for 50 hours or more, any programm ed sequen ce is entirely erased. CD AND CD CHANGER CARE TIPS Although a C D is v ery durable, you shou ld handle it with care.
24 CASSETTE DECK OPERA TION The S ystem 731 ’s cass ette dec k lets you play your favorite cas sette ta pes or record from the CD cha nger or ra- dio. If you connected an additiona l audio source, you can also record from it (see “Recording from a n Addi- tional Audio Source”).

26 RECORDING A CASSETTE T A PE The System 731 lets you record onto a cassette tape from the CD changer or the radio. Note : You can also record from an additional audio s ource (see “Re- cording from a n Additional Audi o Source”).

33 CLEANING THE T APE- HAN DLING P ARTS Dirt, dust or particles of a cass ette tape’ s coating can ac cumulate on t he casset te deck’s tape hea ds and oth- er parts that the tape touches. This can g reatly reduce the performance of the cassette deck.
