INSTALLATION 17 Setting Up the Player - Initial Setup Use the Setup Menu System In many places of this guide, the DVD play er’s Setup Menu needs to be adju sted to match your specifi c audio/video configur ation.
INSTALLATION 18 To access the DVD player’s Setup Menu simply pr ess the SETUP button on the remote control. Since some setup menu o ptions can be come inaccessi ble when the play er is playing a di sc, it is recomm ended that you operate the setup menu when playback is fully stop ped or when there i s no disc in the player.

INSTALLATION 22 To get the best possible audio via HDMI, you may need to set the following option s on the DVD player’s setup menu, depending on your HDMI-c apable re ceiver configuration: • If your receiver supports HDMI v1.1 Multi-Cha nnel PCM audio, most likely it also support DTS and/or Dolby Digital decodi ng and has surround speakers.
INSTALLATION 23 NOTE HDMI is a wonderful thing. A single cabl e can transport both audio AND video from your DV D player to your display. Be aware, however, that HDMI is an evolving standa rd, and there could be compatibility issues. The OPP O DV -980H supports HDM I v1.

40 SETUP MENU OPTIONS The Setup Menu of the DVD player pre sents many set up and configuration optio ns. For most users, the default configuration works well eno ugh and there is no need to change the settings.
