16 Basic Playback Preparations • When you want to play back DVD video discs, turn on the TV and select the video input source connected to the DVD player . • When you want to enjoy the sound of DVD video discs or audio CDs from the audio system, turn on the audio system and select the input source connected to the DVD player .
Basic Playback 17 T o stop playback Press STOP . The DVD player returns to chapter 1 or track 1. T o change the playback speed using CINEMA SCAN Y ou can view pictures at a variety of speeds by turning the inner jog dial or the outer shuttle ring. T o pause playback (still mode) Press P AUSE/STEP during playback.
18 T o resume normal playback Press PLA Y . Press FR or FF during playback. • DVD video disc The playback speed becomes x2 the normal speed. Each time you press the FR or FF button, the playback speed changes. FR: Fast reverse playback FF: Fast forward playback • Audio CD The fast reverse or fast forward playback alternates between two speeds.
Basic Playback 19 T o resume normal playback Press PLA Y . Playing in Slow-Motion Y ou can play back a DVD video disc in slow-motion. Press SLOW during playback. The playback speed becomes half the normal speed. Each time you press the SLOW button, the slow-motion speed changes.

25 Advanced Playback Press ZOOM during normal playback or slow motion. The DVD player magnifies in the center of the picture. If you press / / / during zoom playback, the zoom point shifts. If the zoom point reaches the limit, the color of “ZOOM” changes.

30 Displaying the SET UP MENU Screen The SET UP MENU screen asks you to select a setting category from AUDIO SETTING, FUNCTION and DISPLA Y . Each selected category will provide you setting details via the succeeding screen. Y ou can change the default settings to customize performance to your preference.
