OPERATION GUIDE 2-1 2 Loading Paper Paper can b e loaded into the cass ette or on the MP tr ay. For details on the media types that can be used, refer to the Ad vanced Operation Guid e . After taking new paper out of its packet, fan it to separate the sheets before loadi ng it.

OPERATION GUIDE 3-1 3 Prep arations Connecting the Cables The machine can be connecte d to a network or directly to a compu ter. Connecting the Network Cable When connecting the mach ine to the netw ork, use the a ppropriate network ca ble (10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX).

Preparations OPERATION GUIDE 3-7 Default Operation Mode Use the followin g procedure to set the operation mode selected when the mac hine is powered on. Modes available are Co py Operation, Send Operation or Status Operation. It is recommended you select the most commonly used mode as the default.

OPERATION GUIDE 4-1 4 B asic Operation Basic Copying Procedure To change the defa ult settings for the machine, refer to the Advanced Ope ration Guide . 1 Turn the machine on. At the end of warm-up, the Start indicator will light. 2 Select from the copier’s various fun ctions.

Basic Operation OPERATION GUIDE 4-7 Print Override Mode The print override mode te mporarily stops processing of the current job to enable copies of a more ur ge n t job to be made . After the print override proc essing is completed, the in terrupted job w ill be resumed.
Basic Operation 4-8 OPERATION GUIDE Low Power Mode The machine has a Low Power Time r that is used to conserve power wh en the machine is not in operation. You can adjust th e length of time (between 1 minute and 240 minutes) the machine waits befo re e ntering low power mode.
Basic Operation OPERATION GUIDE 4-9 Basic Scanning Procedure You can scan docu ments and send them to e-mail addr esses or a folder . The folder can be on a PC or FTP server. The recipients add ress can be entered from an internal address bo ok, external address book (LDAP) or using a one-touch key.

OPERATION GUIDE 5-1 5 Maintenance Cleaning the Machine CAUTION: For safety purposes, always remove the power co rd from the outlet when performing cleaning. Always use a soft cloth dampened with alc ohol or mild detergent to clean th e machine. Open the original cove r and wipe the platen and the original cover, as shown in the illustration.
Maintenance 5-2 OPERATION GUIDE Replacing T oner Cont ainer 1 Open the top cover. 2 Open the front cover. 3 Lift the proc ess unit, together with the toner container, out of the machine and pla ce it on a clean, level surface. Do not stan d th e process u nit on end and never expose the drum to normal lighting for more than five minutes.
Maintenance OPERATION GUIDE 5-3 6 Shake the new toner c ontainer horizontally 5 or 6 times to distributed th e to ner inside. 7 Remove the orange protective seal. 8 Align the knob on the left side of the container with the groove in the process unit and insert it.

Troubleshooting 6-6 OPERATION GUIDE Send error. #### 3101 : SMTP Authentication error . Consult with your network administrator to veri fy that the Login Account Name and Lo gin Password required for SMTP Authentication are co rrect. The SMTP server or FTP server is not op erating properly .
