2 Gettin g Star ted The prin ters h av e four sockets for memory DIMM bo ards. Y ou can e xpand th e printer ’ s memory up to 1 GB b y in stalling t wo 512 -MB DIMMs. T o achie v e the 1 GB memory in most model s, you will nee d to replace the DIMM(s) pro vided with 512 MB DIMMs.
3 Prep are the Print er 1. T urn of f the pr inter and unplug the po w er cor d. 2. Detach the interfa ce cable from th e printer . 3. Remo ve and sa ve the thumbscr e w at the top and bottom wh ich hold the control board in pla ce.
4 4. Grasp the con trol boar d, loosen i t by wiggl ing it back and for th, and sli de it out of the prin ter . C7100/C 7300/C 7500 C9300/C 9500.
5 Install the DI M M (s) 1. Locate the DIMM sock ets (circled) on the co ntrol board. 2. Push out the whi te lock tabs at ei ther end of the DIMM socket. Cautio n! Circuit boards can be damaged by st atic el ectricit y and rough h andling. T o avoi d damage, grou nd yourself (touch metal) b efore ha ndling DIMM s.
6 3. Remov e the DIMM from i ts shipping p ackage. 4. Alig n the DIMM wi th the narrow strip ( 1 ) on its metall ic contact edge towa rd the front o f the contr ol board , then care fully inse rt the DIMM in the socket. Press do w n f irmly , until you feel the board eng age the conne ctor , then raise th e white tab s to lock th e DIMM in place.
7 Compl et e the Installa tion 1. Alig n the bo ttom o f the con trol bo ard with the trac k in the p rinter and slide it back into p lace. C7100/C 7300/C 7500 C9300/C 9500.
8 2. Reinstal l the th umbscre ws at t he top and bottom of the board. 3. Reattach the compu ter interf ace cable. 4. Plu g the po we r cord in to th e po wer outle t and t urn o n th e pri nter .
9 Check fo r Prope r Installa tion Generate a Men uMap printout and check to be su re that the DIMMs are p roperly installed . 1. Press MENU once or twi ce until INFORMA TION MENU appears on the displ ay . 2. Press SELECT . PRINT MENU MAP appears on the display .
