Q uick S t art Guide Y our Essentia Audio D istribution Syst em is quick and easy t o install. This guide out lines the necessary steps for an accurat e and successful insta llation, and year s of audio enjoymen t. Step 1: Check your package f or all of the componen ts.
Step 7: Connect the pr ovided pre-t erminated networ k Cable in t he RJ-45 connection jack on the fron t of the EZ Port and in the Netw ork Connection on the back of the Essen tia amplifier . Step 8: Each zone is easily set using t he DIP swi tches locat ed on the back of the k eypad.

9 Essen tia Amplifier Back P anel 1. Audio Source Input s: The Essentia amplifier accept s up to six audio sources. A sour ce consists of an y au dio component capa ble of supplying a line l evel signal.
Essen tia Ke ypad 1. V olume Indicator: Thes e LED ’ s (ligh t emitting diodes) indica te the zones v olume leve l. The lit L ED tra vels to t he right as the v olume leve l is increased and to the l eft as it is d ecreased. 2. V olume Buttons: These buttons con trol t he zone’ s v olume leve l up and down.

13 II. Inst allin g the Essen tia Amplifier Sy stem setup wor ks best when the amplifier is placed in the same loca tion as the audio sour ce equipment. This is typically in an a udio rack, ent ertainment cen ter or a closet dedica ted to housing t he home audio/video equipmen t.
14 IV . Connecting t he E Z Port t o the Essen tia amplifier (F ig. 3) When the EZ Port is insta lled in the wa ll the onl y part visible should be the facepl ate and a single RJ-45 jack.
15 V I. Connecting t he IR Emitt er s (F ig. 5) IR commands for t he source equipmen t are tr ansferred from t he Essentia amplifier t o the source equipmen t via mini IR mouse emitt ers.
16 V III. Inst alling the Essentia k eypads (F ig. 7) Y ou are now read y to install t he keypads and compl ete t he Essentia inst allation. This is easil y done using a series of DIP s witches on t he back of the keypad. A chart on the back of t he keypad shows each s witch ’ s function, and the settin g options.
IX . Settin g the Zone Addr ess D IP Sw it ches (F ig. 8) The first f our switches on t he keypads ar e designed to creat e a specific binary address id entifying each zone to t he amplifier . Setting each zone addr ess is easy , but it is important to not e tha t each keypad must h ave i ts o wn unique settin g.
18 X. Set ting the Pr eset Zone Equ alization (F ig. 10) Sw it ches 5,6 , and 7 are used to set equa lizations for each zone. These can be used to accommod ate f or acoustical v ariations in each room. The swi tch settings al lo w two leve ls of bass boost, two levels of tr eble boost, or if necessary , bass or treble can be cut.
19 XII. V olume Reset (F ig. 12) Sw it ch 9 contro ls the volume le vel when the zone is t urned on. When it is in t he down position, t he zone will turn on at i ts previous v olume lev el. When it is in t he up position, t he zone will turn on at a pr eset low vo lume leve l.
20 XIII. The NV-RC2 IR R emote Con trol (F ig. 13) The Essentia S yst em comes with the R C2 remote con- trol. This r emote allows wir eless contr ol of all of the ke ypad functions, as well as the functions of t he NuV o T3 T uner. The f our-backlit butt ons at the t op of the r emot e allow you t o choose which device the r emote will contr ol.
21 Essentia Accessories NV-MI1 Mute I nterf ace Adapt er (Fig. 15) The Mute I nterf ace is used in conjunction wit h Sy stem Mute input in t he back of the Essentia ampli fier. I t acts as a rel ay f or a volt age from up to two phone lines and tw o doorbell transf ormers.
22 Accessories—contin ued NV-LSI12 Local Sour ce Int errupt (Fig. 16) The Local Source I nt errupt enables an ampli fied local audio sour ce to overrid e the Essentia S ystem and pl ay thr ough the local zone in-w all speaker s. The most common scenario for t his is a T V tha t would benefit fr om higher qua lity speakers.
23 Accessories—contin ued NV-P2100 200 W att A uxiliary Amplifier (Fig. 1 7) The P2100 is speci fically designed f or use with the N uV o Sy stems ’ lineouts. I t can be used with eit her the fixed or v aria ble lineouts on the Essen tia either a 1/8" t o 1/8" ster eo patch ca ble or a 1/8" ster eo to RCA pat ch cable .
24 Tr oubleshootin g S ymptom When the k eypad is plugged in t her e is a loud pop through t he speaker s and the k eypad does not work. My ke ypad is lit, but nothing ha ppens when I press a but- t on. The amplifier is plugged in and t urned on, but the S T AND B Y L ED is not lit and none of t he sy stem functions w ork.

Once it is SET by one of these commands: a. It will remain set until power is cycled on the unit. b. Non-address DIP switch changes on a connected KEYP AD connected to this zone will be ignored. If override state is "0", this response is also issued whenever non-address KEYP AD DIP switches are changed.
COMMAND: *ZxxVOLyy<CR> – Set volume of zone xx to level yy below max in dB from –0 to –78 dB (include lead 0 for all single-digit values). RESPONSE: Same response as for *ZxxCONSR<CR>.
