40 SMART -MR10/15 User Manual Rev 5 Chapter 2 Installation 2.3.4 Connecting Data Co mmunications Equipment T o communicate with the receiver so that you can se nd commands to and obtain logs from the SMAR T -MR10/15, you will need to connect it to a terminal or computer.
Installation Chapter 2 SMART -MR10/15 User Manual Rev 5 41 2.4.3 Controller Area Network (CAN) NMEA 2000 is a CAN standard created by the National Marin e Electronics Association and designed to support netwo rking in marine applications. It functions over a longer physical d istance, and supports more p hysical nodes than ISO 11783.

Connect an appropriate antenna type to the SMAR T -MR15: Specific antenna types are available from NovAtel for the GSM/GPRS/HSDP A or CDMA versions of the SMAR T - MR15. 2. Ensure the cellular antenna is installed at leas t 30 cm away from the SMAR T -MR15, as shown in Figur e 10 .
Installation Chapter 2 SMART -MR10/15 User Manual Rev 5 43 4. Antennas must be installed on a “ground plan e”. A vehicle with a metal roof is inherently a ground plane. For vehicles wi th a non-metallic r oof a metal ground plane (available from NovA- tel) must be used.

The following instructions are based on a COM port configuration such as that shown in Figure 15 on page 49 .

If an error condition is detected during a self-test, the self-test s tatus word changes. This se lf-test status word can be viewed in the header of any data output log.

The PSRDIFFSOURCE and R TKSOURCE commands set the station ID values which identify the base stations from which to accept pseudorange or R TK corrections respectiv ely .
