1. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure t hat all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions. 2. Use the treadmill only as described. 3. Place the treadmill on a level surface, with at least eight feet of clearance behind it and two feet on each side.
4 21. Do not change the incline of the treadmill by p lacing objects under the treadmill. 22. When folding or moving the treadmill, make sure that the frame is held securely by the pin o n the latch knob. 23. Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the t readmill regularly.

7 ASSEMBL Y A ssembly requires two persons. S et the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. D o not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Note: The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
3. With the help of a second person, carefully raise the Uprights (20) to the vertical position. Remove the ban d se cu rin g th e Upright Wire Harness (73) to t he r igh t U pri ght . Have a second person hold the console assembly near the right Upright.
9 6. Attach the Latch Housing (34) to the left Upright (20) with two Screws (7); start both Screws and then tighten them. Make sure that the large hole in the Latch Housing is on the indi- cated side. Remove the knob from the pin. Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin.
10 9. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Keep the included hex key in a secure place. The hex key is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 29). To protect the floor or car- pet from damage, place a mat under the treadmill.

12 HOW TO CONNECT A 75 OHM CATV CABLE 1. Connect a 75 ohm C ATV cable to the 75 ohm terminal on the treadmill frame near the power cord. HOW TO CONNECT AN EXTERNAL SOURCE USING A CATV CABLE 1. Connect one end of a 75 ohm CATV cable to the video output jack on your external source.
OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking b elt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
14 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjo yable. When you select the manual mode of the console, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a butt on.
15 H OW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not d o this, the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged.
16 Select a display mode and follow your progress with the exercise information on the s creen. A s you walk or run on the treadmill, the screen can display the following exercise information: • The elapsed time. Note: When a program is se- lected, the screen will show the time remaining in the program instead of the elapsed time.
17 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM Insert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15. Identify yourself as user 1 or user 2. See step 2 on page 15.
18 H OW TO USE A PULSE PROGRAM Follow the steps below to use a pulse program. Put on the optional chest pulse sensor. Note: You must wear the optional chest pulse sen- sor to use a pulse program. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15.
19 If the speed settings and/or incline settings are too high or too low, you can change the intensity level o f the program at any time by pressing the in- crease and decrease buttons beside the User but- t on to change the target heart rate setting or the maximum target heart rate setting.
20 H OW TO CREATE A CUSTOM PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 15. Identify yourself as user 1 or user 2. See step 2 on page 15. Select one of the four custom programs. To select a custom program, press the Program button repeatedly.

23 H OW TO OPERATE THE PERSONAL TELEVISION IMPORTANT: Before operating the television, you must connect a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm terminal on the treadmill, a VCR or DVD player to t he audio/video input jack, or a personal audio/video player to the audio/video plug below the television on the console.
24 H OW TO USE THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that allows you to view treadmill usage information, select a sys- t em of measurement for the console, and turn on and t urn off the demo mode.
25 Press the Power button again and save chan- nels into the television’s memory. When the Power button is pressed, the television w ill begin scanning all the cable channels avail- able in your area. When no cable signal is de- tected on a channel, the channel will be skipped.
26 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If you do not do this, you may damage the t readmill. Remove the key and unplug the power cor d. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
27 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down until the walking platform is past the pin on the latch knob.
28 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
29 PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on S OLUTION: a . Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 13. b . If the walking belt is overtightened, treadmill perfor- mance may decrease and the walking belt may be- come damaged.

31 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician.
32 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
