The CPU that came with the mother - board should have a fan attached to it to prevent overheating. If this is not the case, then purchase a fan before you turn on your system.

HARDW ARE SETUP IMPORT ANT : If using PCI cards on shared slots, make sure that the drivers support “ Share IRQ ” or that the cards do not need IRQ assignments. Conflicts will arise between the two PCI groups that will make the system unstable or cards inoperable.

HARDW ARE SETUP 3.7.3 Assigning DMA Channels for ISA Cards Some ISA cards, both legacy and PnP , may also need to use a DMA (Direct Memory Access) channel. DMA assignments for this motherboard are handled the same way as the IRQ assignment process described earlier .

These are clearly distinguished from jumpers in the Motherboard Layout. Placing jumper caps over these connector pins will cause damage to your motherboard.

After connecting the single end to the board, connect the two plugs at the other end to your hard disk(s).

BIOS SETUP Chip Configuration SDRAM Configuration [By SPD] This sets the optimal timings for items 2 – 4, depending on the memory mod- ules that you are using. Default setting is [By SPD], which configures items 2 – 4 by reading the contents in the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) device.

This feature turns OFF the video display and shuts down the hard disk after a period of inactivity . BIOS SETUP Boot Menu Boot Sequence The Boot menu allows you to select among the four possible types of boot devices listed using the up and down arrow keys. By using the <+> or <Space> key , you can promote devices and by using the <-> key , you can demote devices.

BIOS SETUP Exit Menu Exit Saving Changes Once you are finished making your selections, choose this option from the Exit menu to ensure the values you selected are saved to the CMOS RAM. The CMOS RAM is sustained by an onboard backup battery and stays ON even when the PC is turned OFF .
