5 Intr oduction Y our new multimedia projector provides thr ee computer , three video, and two aud io in puts, one aud io ou tput, RS -23 2 control, and ha s XG A 1024x7 68 resol ution. Optiona l user -changeable sho rt, fixed short, long and su per long thr ow lenses make this a flexible pr oduct suit able for many differ ent uses.
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector pro vides three computer and three vide o connection options: • one M1-D (DVI with USB) • one VESA computer • one BNC (RGBH V and Pr , Pb, Y) • one component.
7 P ositioning the pr ojec tor T o determine wher e to position th e projector , consider the size and shape of your scr een, the location of y our power outlets, and t he distance between the proj ector and the r est of your equipment .
8 Connecting a computer Required compute r connection s Connect one end of the VESA computer cable to the Comput er 2 conne ctor on the pr ojector . Conne c t the ot her end to the v ideo port on your computer . If you are using a desktop co m puter , you first need to disconnect the moni- tor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
9 If you are using a desktop c omputer an d want to see the image on your computer screen as well as on the projection scr een, plug the monitor cable to the Monitor out conn ector on the proj ec tor . Y ou can also connect to your computer us ing a BNC cable.
10 Displa ying a computer i mage Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch o n the back of the pr ojector to the on position, then press the Po w e r button on the top of the pr ojector or the remot e. The LED fla shes green and the fans start to run.
11 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W i ndows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes the pr ojector as “new h a rdw are” and th e Add Ne w H a rd wa re W i za rd ap p ea r s.
12 Skip th is pag e if y ou did n ot connect a USB mouse c able F or Windo ws 98: • If you connected the USB cable, the Add New Hardwa re W izard appears a gain. Drivers mu st be install ed to use th e USB functionalit y . • The Wizar d launch es tw o times .
13 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of the pr ojector , if n ecessary , by pres sing the re lease but- tons on each side of the pr ojector ’s fr ont to extend the elevator feet. Position the projector the desir ed distance fr om the screen a t a 90 deg ree angle (perpend icular) to the scr een.

15 Y ou can also connect to you r video device using a BNC cab le. Connect the BNC connectors of the BNC cable to the appr opriate Comput er 3 conn ec- tors on the projector .
16 Displaying a video im age Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch o n the back of the pr ojector to the on position, then press the Po w e r button on the top of the pr ojector . The LED fla shes green and the fans start to run. Whe n the lamp comes on, the sta rtup screen is displayed an d the LED is stea dy green.
17 Adjust th e zoom or focus by pr essing the power Zo om or power Fo c u s buttons on the ke ypad until the desired ima ge size and foc us are pr oduced. Y ou can also adjust the zoom a nd focus via the menus. See pa ge 32 If the image is not on the screen or view ing area, a djust the it by pressin g the lens shift button on t he keypad.
18 Shutting do wn the pr ojec tor The projector automati cally bl anks the screen afte r no active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blank screen helps pr eserve the life of the pro- jector . The imag e returns when a n active sour ce is detected or a r emote or keypad b utton is pr essed.

26 Using the k eypad buttons Most bu ttons ar e described in detail in other sections, but h ere is an over- view of the ir functions: pow e r –turn s the pr ojector on (pag e 10) an d off ( page 16) . lens shift –shifts the pr ojected image up or down zo om –moves the proj ected image closer or further away .
27 Using the remote control The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batt eries. They ar e easily installed by slidi ng the cov er off the remote's b ack, aligning the + and - ends of the batteries , sliding them into place, and then repl acing the cov er .
28 Using the audio T o play sound from the project or , con nect your source to th e Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, us e the buttons on the k eypad or remote. T o adjust the balance, or loudness, use the Audio menu (see page 35 ).
29 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s imag e is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mage using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 31 . • Adjus t the Keys tone, Cont rast, or Br ight ness in the Pi cture me nu.
30 Optimizi ng video ima ges After the video devic e is connected pr operly an d the image is on the scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on u sing t he menus, see page 31 . • Adju st the Keystone , Contrast, B rightness, C olor , or T int in the Picture menu.
31 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the menu b utton on the keyp ad or r emote. (The menus a utomatically close a fter 60 second s if no button s are pre ssed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired submenu, then pr ess the Select butto n.
32 Picture menu T o adjust th e following six settings, hi ghlight the set ting, pr ess Selec t , use the up an d down arro ws to adjust t he val u es, the n press sele ct to confirm the c hanges . Zoom : allows you to adj ust a lens to zoom in and out.
33 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, fil m images, an d video images. (Film input is material or iginally captur ed on a fil m camera, like a movie; video input is material or iginally captur ed on a v ideo camera, li ke a TV show or sporting event.
34 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) changes t he clarity of the edge s of a video image. Select a sha rpness settin g. Color S pace : This option appl ies to computer a nd component vide o sour ces. It allows you to select a color spac e that h as been sp ecifically tu ned for the input si gnal.
35 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustmen ts to the Bala nce and V olume. Also allows you to turn on and off the Intern al spe akers, and projector startup Ch ime. Sources : allows you to assign a particula r input to a specific sour ce key when using the Inte grato r remote.
36 Screen Sav e : automatically blanks th e screen aft er no signals are detected for fiv e minutes. The image r eturns when an active s ource is detect ed or a remote or keypad button i s pressed. Scr een Save is dis abled when P ower Save is en abled.
37 PiP : (Pictur e in Pict ure) allows you to over lay a smaller wi ndow showing the video s ource on top of th e larger computer source window . Only video sour ces 2 and 3 (composite and S-video) support PiP . Y ou must have b oth a computer and video sou rce connected to use PiP .
38 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet connector that supports n et- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corporate network. Th e following fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked a nd available for manual entry of data.
39 Maintenance NO TE : When you a re perfor ming maintenance activities on your pro jector , keep in m ind that you sh ould only re move scre ws that ar e single-slo t, or flathea d, screws. Any other type of screw , such as a phillips or st ar should not be re moved.
40 6 T o remove a lens, push the lever ins ide the lens h ousing and turn the lens cou nterclockw ise until it st ops. Remove the l ens. 7 T o install a new lens, place it in th e opening thro ugh the fro nt of the pro- jector , aligning t he red do t (near the base of th e lens) with the red dot on the proj ector .
41 4 Loosen th e three captive scr ews on the lamp module. W ARNINGS : • T o avoid burns, a llow the pr ojector to cool for at least 60 minutes before you r epla ce the lamp . • Do not drop the la mp module. The g lass may shatt er and cause injury .
