4 Important Ope r ating Considerat i ons f o r Saf ety • Place t he projecto r in a ho rizo ntal po sition no greate r than 15 degrees off a xis. • Loca te the pr ojector in a well-ven tilated ar ea without a ny obst ructions to intake or exhaust vents.
5 Intr oduction Y our new digital projec tor pr ovides computer an d video inputs an d has XGA 1024x768 re solution. The pro jector is easy to connect, easy to u se, and easy to main tain. An In teractive Display on the top of the pr ojector gives you constant feedb a ck on the st atus of the pr ojector .
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector pro vides compute r and vi deo connecto rs: • one M1-D/ A (HD, DVI, and computer) • one VES A (HD, HD component , and co mputer) • one S-vi deo • one com posite RCA vide o • one a udio in/one audio out It al so has an RS-232 serial connect or for se rial con trol.
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connection s Connect the black end of the computer cable to the Com puter 1 connector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the video port on your computer . If you are u sing a desktop computer , you first need t o disconnect t h e monitor cable fr om t he computer ’s video port .
8 If you are u sing a desktop computer a nd want to s ee the image on your computer screen a s well a s on the pr ojection scr een, plug the monitor cable to the bl ack Computer 2 conne c tor on the projecto r . This connector can be used as monitor out or VESA in.
9 Displa yi ng a computer image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r bu tton on th e top of the projector or the remote. The LED fla shes gr een and the fans s t art to r un. Whe n the lamp comes on, the sta rtup scr een is displayed an d the LED is stea dy gr een.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 If you are running W indows 2000, W indows ME, or W indow XP , skip these steps an d go to “Adju sting th e image” on page 12.

12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the heigh t of the pr ojector , if necessary , by pres sing the rel ea se but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate th e level ing foot (loca ted at t he botto m back ri ght cor ner), i f neces - sary . Position the projector the d esired distance fr om the screen a t a 90 degr ee angle to the screen.

14 Displa ying a video imag e Remove the lens cap. Press t h e Po w e r butt on on the top o f the projec tor or the re mote . The LED flash es gre en and the fa ns start to r un. When the lamp comes on , the star tup screen is displayed and th e LED is steady green .
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotatin g them until the desir ed image size and fo cus are produc ed. If the image is not square, a djust the vertical key st one using t he buttons on the keypad.
16 Shutting do wn the projector The projector automati cally bl anks th e screen aft er no acti ve source is detected for 3 0 minutes. Th is blank scr een helps pr eserve the life of the pro - jector . The image r eturns when an act ive sour ce is detected or a r emote or keypad bu tton is pr essed.

26 Using the remote contr ol The remote uses tw o (2) provided AA bat teries. They are ea sily installed by sliding t he cover of f the remote’s back, alignin g the + and - ends of the bat- teries, s liding them int o place, and t hen r eplacing the co ver .

Us e your own JPE Gs from your digital camera, or con - vert y our files, such as PowerPoin t or W ord files, in to JPEGs using L itePort Utility (i ncluded on th e CD).

29 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the im age using the onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 3 0. • Adjus t the Ke ys tone, C ontra st, or Br ight nes s in the Pictu re menu.
30 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the Menu button on the key pad or remote. (The menus a utomatically c lose aft er 60 seconds if no b uttons are pressed. ) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desir ed submenu, then press the Selec t butto n.

32 Presets : The pr ovided Preset s optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph ot ographs, and film images. Y ou can use the pr eset as a sta rting point, then further customize t h e settings f or each source. T o rest ore t he factory defa ult settings, choose Factory Res et in the Set- tings>S er vice menu.
33 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) cha nges the clarity of the edges of a v ideo image. Select a s harpness settin g. Color S pace : This option applies to computer sources. It allows you to select a color spa ce that has been specifically tuned for the v ideo input .
34 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustments to the volume a n d bala nce, and turns the projec- tor ’s startup Chime on an d off. Sources : allows you to a ssign a particular inpu t to a s pecific sour ce key when usin g the optional Int egrator re m ote.
35 Screen Sav er Off : prevent s your computer fr om going into Scr een Save mode. Po w e r S a v e : automati cally turn s the la mp off after no signals a re detecte d for 2 0 minu tes. A fter 1 0 addit ional minutes with no signal, t he pro jector powers dow n.
36 LiteP or t This men u allows yo u to con trol the embedded LiteP ort player in your pro- jector t o display JP EGs stored on your USB mass sto rage device.
37 Star tup Logo: allows you to display a blank Blac k, White, or Blu e scr een instead of the default sc reen a t startu p and wh en no so urce is detected. Blank Screen : determine s what col or is displayed w hen yo u pr ess the Blank button on the remote.
38 Effect K ey : allow s you to assign a dif ferent function to the Effe ct button on the re m ote to quickly a n d easily use the effect . Only one effect can be enabled at a time. Hig hlight a n effec t and pr ess Sel ect to choose a dif ferent one.
39 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non- abrasiv e camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry clo th. A void usi ng an excessiv e amount of c leaner , and do n’t apply the cleaner direc tly to the lens. Abrasiv e cleaners, solvent s or other har sh chemic als might sc ratch the le ns.
40 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use. Fifty h ou rs before the specified end of the lamp’ s life, the message “ Replace lamp” briefly appears on the scr een at each startup and in the Interactive Di splay .
41 • Be extr emely careful when removin g the lamp housing. In the unlikely event that the lamp rupt u res, small glass fr a gments may b e generated. The lamp module is d esigned to contain most of these fragmen ts, but use caution when removing it.
42 Cleaning the lamp filter screens In dirty or dusty envi ronment s, the dust fil t er scr eens on the lamp module and lamp door an d in the lamp com partment can become clogged, ca using high tempe r atures i nside the lamp module. These high temperatures can impact l amp performa nce and oper ating life.
