8 Solving Problems.
MultiModemII User Guide 76 Introduction Your modem was thoroughly tested at the factory before it was shipped. If you are unable to make a successful connection, or if you experience data loss or garbled characters during your connection, it is possible that the modem is defective.
8 Solving Problems 77 The Modem Does Not Respond to Commands Make sure the modem is plugged in and turned on. (See “ None of the Indicators Light. ” ) Make sure you are issuing the modem commands from data communication software, either manually in terminal mode or automatically by configuring the software.

MultiModemII User Guide 80 Check for loose connections between the modem and the computer, the tele- phone jack, and AC power. You might have had a poor connection because of line conditions or the problem might have originated on the other end of the line.
8 Solving Problems 81 Data Is Being Lost If you are using data compression and a high speed serial port, set the serial port baud rate to four times the data rate.
MultiModemII User Guide 82 Fax and Data Software Can’t Run at the Same T ime Communication devices can be accessed by only one application at a time. Under DOS or Windows 3.1x, you can run either your fax software or your datacomm software, but not both at the same time, unless you have a special c ommunication device management application.
