14 E. T ransmission Hi/Lo Range Shift Lever The Hi/Lo rang e shift l ever is lo cated on the right fender. The lever has two spe ed range s ettings an d a neutral po sitio n. The lever must be shifte d into either th e high or lo w range p rior to depr essing th e for war d/ revers e pedal to drive th e tracto r.
15 SECTION 2: OPERA TION ROLLOVER PROTECTIVE STRUCTURE (ROPS) This tractor is equ ipped with a fold able Roll over Protec tion Struc ture (RO PS) and se at belts. Whe n used toge ther they a r e effe ctive in red ucing injuries to the oper ator in the e vent of a n accide ntal tractor rollover .

17 STARTING THE ENGINE W ARNING: Always sit in the operator’s seat when st arting the t ractor, Never attempt to s tart the engin e while standing beside the tra ctor. W ARNING: N ever use star ting fluids, such as ether, as a starting aid. Se vere engine damage or fire could result.
18 DRIVING THE TRACTOR W A RNING: Avoid s u dden st arts, exces- sive speed and sudden sto ps. W ARNING: Do not leave the seat of the tractor with out dise ngaging the PTO and engaging the parking brake. If leaving the tractor unattended, turn the ignition key off and remove key.

22 USING THE THREE POINT HITCH W ARN ING: Always disengage the PTO, stop th e engin e, and set th e parki ng brake before dismounting the tractor to connect, disconnect , or adjust three point hitch mounted implements. Use the re ar three point hi tch system to atta ch three point mount ed impleme nts, whi ch are norma lly driven by the rea r PTO.

24 SECTION 3: ADJUSTMENTS ADJUSTING THE SEAT For the com fort of the operato r, a sing le lever adjustab le seat is provide d to set the fore to aft positio n of the seat. Adju st the seat t o the m ost comfo rtable posi tion that allows yo u to oper ate all control s and ped als.

26 ADJUSTING THE BRAKES The tract or brakes are adj usted at the fac tory an d should ex perienc e minim al wear if the tractor is operated normall y. Howev er, all br ake pads are subjec t to wear and at some p oint th e b ra ke link ag e may hav e to be a djust ed.

30 ACCESSING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT W ARN ING: If the tractor has been recently opera ted, engine surfaces (including the radiator ) will be HOT. Allow the engine to cool before open- ing the hood, or us e extreme caution to avoid burns when the hood is open.

32 HEAD LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT The tra ctor is equ ipped w ith four headlig ht bulb s. If one of th e bul bs shou ld bu rn out, repla ce the b ulb as follo ws: • Fully r aise the hood so th at the hood p rop cylind ers hol d the ho od in the r aised p osition.
33 INSTRUMENT PANEL BU LB REPLACEMENT Referring to the inst rumen t panel i nformatio n pro- vided in the CONTROL AND FE ATURES section of this manu al, reg ularly check to ensu re that the instrum ent pan el li ght bulbs are fu nctionin g.
34 Main Fuse The main fuse in the tractor wir e harness protects the tract or’s entire el ectric al system. A blown mai n fuse will pr event batt ery curre nt fr om passi ng though the harne ss. To replac e the mai n fuse: • Raise the tra ctor hood and remove the r ight side pan el.
35 • If the oil leve l is l ow, add Cub Cad et hydr aulic oil. Loos ely po sition a fu nnel in the fill hol e so that there is enough c learance a round the fun- nel to allow th e transmis sion to ve nt while the oil is poured into the tr ansmiss ion.
36 CHANGING HYDROSTATIC TRANSMIS SION AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OIL FILTERS NOTE: With the excepti on of the fi rst oil fil ter change aft er the 2 5 hour br eak-in per iod, th e hydrostati c transm iss io.
37 CHECKING OIL LEVEL IN FRONT AXLE AND FINAL REDUCTION GEAR CASES. Check the front ax le and final re ductio n gear c ase oil leve ls after every 50 hours of ope ratio n. Check the oil leve l only whil e the engine i s stopp ed and the trac tor is stan ding o n a lev el surfac e.
38 • Place a suitabl e con tainer be neath t he fro nt of the axle housi ng. • Remov e the oil fill pl ug/dipstick t o help vent th e axle, th en r emove the dr ain p lug and allow the oil to drain int o the c onta ine r. Rein sta ll the dr ain plug after draining the oil .
39 TIRE MAINTENANCE Check the tire air pressu re after every 5 0 hours o f operatio n or weekly . Keep the ti res infla ted to the recomm ended pres sures . Improper inflati on will shorten the se rvice life o f a tire. See th e tire s ide wall, or the T ire Infl ation cha rt, for pr oper in flatio n pressu res.

Remove the glow p lugs a nd pour a small amount of engine oil i nto ea ch cyl inder. Reinstal l the glow pl ugs an d slowly crank th e engin e to distr ibute the oil.

43 ENGINE MAINTENANCE W ARNING: Use ca re when servicing any component in the engine area. If the engine has recently be en operated, components will be hot and could cause burns.
44 ADDING ENGINE OIL W ARNING: Never over fill the engine crankc ase. The engine may o verheat and/or damage may result if the oil in the crankcase is below the “ADD” mar k or over the “FULL” mar k on the dipstick. For best results, fill to the “FULL” mark on the dipstick as opposed to adding a given quantity of oil.
45 • Place a suitabl e container belo w the drain plug to co lle ct t he o ld o il. Turn t he drain pl ug counter - clock wise to r emove from the e ngine. • Allow the o ld oil to co mplete ly drain from th e engin e crankca se in to the conta iner bel ow.
46 • Wait a fe w minutes to allow a s much ai r as possible to es cape thro ugh the fille r neck, the n reinsta ll the radiator c ap. • Fill th e overflow rese rvoir to th e "FULL" mark. • Start the engin e and a llow it t o run for a shor t period.

48 Changing The Fuel Filter Replace the fuel filter cartrid ge after every 600 hours of operation. NOTE: There is no shut o ff va lve in t he fue l sys tem . To st op the fl ow of fu el while replacin g the fil ter, it will be neces sary to care full y clamp the fuel li ne between the fuel ta nk and the filter.
