1 1 Chapter 1 Introduction and Installation MOXA Device Mana ger (referre d to in this manual as M DM) is an easy-t o-use remote management tool for m anaging MOXA’ s ready-to-ru n embedded c omputers on a l ocal area network (L AN).

MOXA Device Manager User’s Guide Introduction and Installation 1-3 1. Download th e MDM installation file, named MDM.zip , and sav e it to your PC’s hard drive. Unzip this file to an empty folder, and then double click setup.exe to install the tool.

When the Installation Complete window opens, click Close . Installing an MDM Agent An MDM agent is a program that runs on a MOXA embedded com puter.
2 2 Chapter 2 MDM Operation Before using t he MDM to ol on your PC to manage em bedded com puters, you m ust run the M DM agent on the embedded c omputers that you want t o manage.
MOXA Device Manager User’s Guide MDM Operation 2-2 Launching the MDM Tool To launch th e MDM T ool on your PC, click St a r t Æ All Pr ograms Æ MOXA Devi ce Manager Æ MOXA Device Manager . The MDM interface window is di vided into three panels as shown below .

Right click on the nam e of the program name in the right p anel of the dua l-panel fil e manager , and then select the Run Pr ogram… option.

MOXA Device Manager User’s Guide MDM Operation 2-12 NOTE We recommend adding the MDM agent program to the auto launch list. Doing so will make it easier to cont rol large num bers of em bedded com puters, and em bedded com puters that are located at remote locations.
MOXA Device Manager User’s Guide MDM Operation 2-13 Changing a User’s Username and Password Follow these st eps to change a user ’ s username and password. 1. T o change the password of a user , ri ght click on the user a nd select Change P assword from the menu of c ommands.

T o start an appl ication, cl ick on the ap plication nam e to highli ght it, and then click the St a r t button in the lower right corner of the window .
MOXA Device Manager User’s Guide MDM Operation 2-17 2. If your com puter obtains IPs from a DHCP server , click t he DHCP Enabled button. Otherwise, click the Using Fixed IP button and edit th e IP address , Sub mask , and Gateway (if applicable). Click Apply to activate the new settings.
