- 1 - INTRODUCTION The 802.11b/g Mini Wireless LAN USB Adapter is designed for a USB type A port of a laptop or desktop computer for cr eating a wireless workstation T . T It is USB 2.0 compliant, which connects to any available USB port on a notebook or desktop computer.
- 2 - SOFTWARE INSTALLATION Install the Driver & Utility Caution ! Do not insert the wireles s LAN adapter into your comp uter until the procedures in “ Driver& Utility I nstallation” have been performed. 1. Exit all Windows programs. Insert the included CD-ROM into your computer.
- 3 - 4. Select the check box to choose a configuration Tool from the listed two choices. Wireless Configuration Tool : Choose to use our configuration utility. Microsoft Zero Confi guration To ol : Choose to use Windows XP’s built-in Zero Configuration Utility (ZCU).
- 4 - 5. There are two modes for you to choos e in this screen, either choose WiFi mode or performance mode (TxBurst mode). This m ode selection screen is set for the default mode shown i n the utility scre en, you can still change its mode later in th e utility s creen.
- 5 - 6. When you are prom pted to insert the wir eless USB adapter , please do so to continue the installation . 7. When the following screen appears, y ou may select to restart your computer immediately or t o restart it later, and then click Finish to complete the installation.

- 7 - HARDWARE INSTALLATION Note : Insert the Wireless USB adapter when you are asked to do so during your software installation. Windows 98SE/2 000/ME / XP 1. Locate your USB host an d insert the USB Adapter. The system will automatically detect the new hardware.
- 8 - Verification To verify if the device exists i n y our computer and is en abled, go to Start > Control Panel > Syste m ( > Hardware) > Device Manager . Expand the Network Adapters category. If the 802.11b/g Mini Wireless LAN USB 2.0 Adapter is listed here, it m eans that your dev i ce is properly installed and enabled.
- 9 - NETWORK CONNECTION Once the device driver is well installed, a network setting described in the following should be also established. In Windows 98SE/ME 1. Go to Start Settings Control Panel Network . 2. Make sure that al l the required com ponents are installed.
- 10 - 3. For maki ng your com puter visibl e on the network, ena ble the File and Print Sharing . 4. Click the Identification tab. Make up a name that is unique from the other com puters' nam es on the netw ork. Type the nam e of your workgroup, which shou ld be the same used by all of the other PCs on the network.

- 13 - 2. Make sure that all the requi red compone nts are instal led. 3. If any co mponents are missi ng, click on the Install… button to select the Client/Servi ce/Protocol re quired. After selec ting the component you need, cli ck Add… to add it in.
- 14 - IP Address Note : When assigning IP Addresses to the computers on the net work, remember to have the IP address for each computer set on the same subnet mask. If your Broadband Router use DHCP technology, however, i t won’t be necessary for you to assign Static IP Address for yo ur computer.

- 16 - Station Mode Profile The Profile Manager enables you to create , edit and delete the profiles that the station uses to connect to WLAN networks, to a ctivate and de -activate profiles, and t o raise and lower a profiles’s priority. Profile Tab Profile Name You may enter a distinctive name of profil e in this colum n.
- 17 - Configuration tab: Profile Name : Enter a profile n ame here, the default is set to be PROF1. SSID : The SSID is the unique name shared among all points in your wireless network. Th e name must be identical for all devices and poi nts attempting to connect to the same network.
