W arning and Safety instructions 5 Safety with children Children under 8 years of age must be k ept away from the cooker hood unless they are constantly supervised.
W arning and Safety instructions 6 T echnical safety Unauthorised installation, maintenance and r epairs can cause consider able danger for the user . Installation, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorised t echnician.
W arning and Safety instructions 7 F or safety r easons, this appliance may only be used after it has been built in. The cooker hood must not be used in a non-stationary location (e.g. on a ship). T ampering with electrical connections or components and mechanical parts is highly dangerous t o the user and can cause oper ational faults.
W arning and Safety instructions 8 Using at the same time as other heating appliances that depend on the air from the room Warning - danger of t oxic fumes Great car e should be taken when using the cooker hood at the same time and in the same room or ar ea of the house as another heating appliance which depends on the air in the room.
W arning and Safety instructions 9 In order t o ensure safe oper ation, and to pr event gases given off by the heating appliances from being dr awn back into the r oom when the cooker hood and the heater ar e in operation simultaneously, an underpressur e in the room of 0.
W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use an open flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over an open flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignit e, presenting a fire hazar d.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the cooker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. The filters should be r egularly cleaned or changed as appropriate.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 Exhaust ducting must be of non-inflammable material. Suitable material is available fr om Miele specialist dealers or the Miele Spares Dept. The appliance must not be connected t o a chimney or vent flue which is in use.
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing material The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hood, the following options are available: Air extr action The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filt ers and directed outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o prevent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication facility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facility the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the cooker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for example you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode temporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manually select a different power level, or Manually switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have temporarily deactivat ed Con@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 Switching the hob lighting on / off The hob lighting can be switched on and off independently of the fan. T o do this, press .
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 23 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in operation is st ored in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Charcoal filt er symbol , lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 24 Activating and altering the charcoal filter operating hours count er The charcoal filt er is needed for recir culation mode.
Cleaning and care 25 Housing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susceptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All ext ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 26 Important for the controls Do not leave soiling on the controls for any length of time. Otherwise they may suffer discolouration or damage. Remove soiling straight away . Please observe the general not es on cleaning earlier in this section.
Cleaning and care 27 T o take out the grease filt er , release the locking clip on the filter , lower the filter appr ox. 45°, unhook it at the back and remove it. Cleaning grease filter by hand Clean the filter with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid.
Cleaning and care 28 Replace the grease filt er , making sure that the locking clip faces down towar ds the hob. If the grease filt er is inadvertently replaced upside down, insert a small screwdriver blade int o the slit to disengage the clip.
Cleaning and care 29 When fitting for the first time, activate the operating hours count er (see "Operation"). When to change the charcoal filter Always replace the char coal filter when it no longer absorbs kitchen odours effectively .

Installation 36 Installation recommendations – When deciding on the safety distance between the hob and cooker hood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cookers/hobs may be prefer able to give more working space under the hood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the hood most often.
Connection for air e xtraction 37 Before installation, it is important to r ead the information given on the following pages as well as the "Appliance dimensions" and the "Warning and Safety instructions" at the beginning of this booklet.
Connection for air e xtraction 38 will need to be addr essed. The exhaust ducting will need t o be suitably insulated. Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting, we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to collect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur .
Connection for air e xtraction 39 Recirculation mode The silencer needs to be positioned between the exhaust connection and the directional unit . Ensur e there is adequate space in the tower for fitting it.
Electrical connection 40 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 41 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 function, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Please read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
