W arning and Safety instructions 9 Correct installation Refer t o the cooker or hob manufactur er's instructions as to whether a cooker hood may be oper ated above the cooker/hob. Safety r egulations pr ohibit the fitting of a cooker hood over solid fuel stoves.
W arning and Safety instructions 10 Cleaning and care Do not use a st eam cleaning appliance t o clean this appliance. The steam could r each electrical components and cause a short circuit. Accessories Only use genuine original Miele accessories with this appliance.
Caring for the envir onment 11 Disposal of the packing mat erial The packaging is designed to pr otect th e appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 12 Recirculation mode This cooker hoods oper ates solely in r ecir culation mode. The air is drawn in and cleaned first by the gr ease filt ers and then by four charcoal filt ers. The cleaned air is then recir culated back into the kitchen through ventilation grilles in the t op of the cooker hood.
Modes of operation 13 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication fac ility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facili ty the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 17 Cooking process If f or example you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 Leaving aut omatic mode t emporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manu ally select a different power level, or Manu ally switch the cooker hood off, or Activat e the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 19 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated Co n@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 20 Switching the hob lighting on/off The hob lighting can be switched on and off independently of the fan. T ouch the hob lighting control . P ower management The cooker hood features a power manag ement system for switching off the lighting and reducing the fan power level automatically .
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 21 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in oper ation is st ored in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Char coal filt er symbol lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 22 Activating and altering the charcoal filt er operating hours count er Charcoal filt ers are needed for r ecir culation mode.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 23 Acoustic signal of the sensor contr ols When selecting a function with the sensor co ntrols an acoustic signal will sound for confirmation. The acoustic signal can be deactivated. Use the On/Off contr ol t o switch the fan off.
Cleaning and care 24 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susce ptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All e xt ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 25 Grease filters The re-usable metal gr ease filters in the appliance r emove solid particles (grease, dust, etc.) fr om the kitchen vapours, preventing soiling of the cooker hood.
Cleaning and care 26 Cleaning the grease filters in the dishwasher Pla ce the filters as upright as possible in the lower basket, with the short sides upright, ensuring the spr ay arm is not obstructed. Use a p roprietary household dishwasher deter gent.
Cleaning and care 27 Charcoal filter With recir culation mode, four charcoal filt ers must be fitted in the grease filters. These are designed t o absorb cooking odours. They are fitt ed into the canopy from above. Charcoal filt ers can be obtained from your Miele dealer or via the internet at www.
Cleaning and care 28 When to change the charcoal filter Always r eplace the char coal filters when they no longer absorb kitchen odours effectively . They should, however , be replaced at least every 2 years. The charcoal filt er operating hours symbol will ligh t up to r emind you to change the charcoal filt ers.
Installation 29 Before installation Befor e installation, it is important to r ead the information given on the following pages as well as the "Warning and Safety instructions" at the beginning of this booklet. Assembly parts 4 screws 5 x 60 mm and 4 plugs 8 x 50 mm F or securing to the ceiling.

Installation 31 a Mains connection cable Safety distance between hob and cooker hood (S) When planning the installation height of your cooker hood, the minimum safety distance between the top of a cooker or hob and the bott om of the cooker hood is as follows, unless a great er distance is specified by the manufacturer of your cooking appliance.
Installation 32 Installation recommendations – When deciding on the safety distance between the hob and coo ker hood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cookers/hobs may be prefer able to give more working space under the hood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be usin g the hood most often.
Electrical connection 33 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 34 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 S tick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 fun ction, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Please read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 35 Activating the hob While t he cooker hood is searching for a signal, start activating the hob. More information about this can be found in the operating instructions for the hob. When connection has been established, 2 and 3 will light up constantly on the coo ker hood.
