3 1. Transmission Mode Sending at a Specific Time (Send Later) Using this funct ion, you can instruct the mach ine to de lay transmiss ion of your fax message until a specified lat- er time. Th is a llow s yo u to take ad - vantage of off -peak teleph one charges without having to be by the machine at the time.
Transmission Mode 4 1 D D D D Enter the time using the nu mber keys (24 hr form at), and then press [ OK ] . The specified time is shown above the hi ghl ighte d [ Send Later ] . Note ❒ Press [ Economy Time ] to specify the economy time. ❒ When entering numbers small- er than 10, add a zero at the be- gin ning .
User Transmission 5 1 User Transmission This func tion allows you to chec k each user or department's transmis- sion history . To use t he functio n, you need to program a user co de (eight digits max.) for each user or depart- ment, to be ente red before transmis- sion.
Transmission Mode 6 1 Priority Transmission Docume nts you sen d with Memo ry Trans mis sion are se nt in the orde r they are scanned . Therefore, if se veral messages are queued in memory, the next doc ument will n ot be sent imme- diately. H owever, by using this func- tion yo u can have your message sent before other queued messages.
Confidential Transmission 7 1 Confidential Transmission If you want to limit who v iews your message, use this function. The mes- sage will be stored in memory at the other end and n ot print ed un til an I D is entered.
Transmission Mode 8 1 D D D D Depending on the Confidential Transmission type, use one of the follo wing pr ocedures : Default ID A Check that [ Default ID ] has be en selected, and th en press [ OK ] . "Default ID" is shown above the highlighted [ Confide ntial TX ] .
Polling Transmission 9 1 Polling Transmission Use Polli ng Transmission when you want to leave an original in the ma- chine memory f or others to p ick up. The message w ill be se nt when the other party calls you up. There are three typ es of Polli ng Transmissi on.
Transmission Mode 10 1 ❒ You can set whether a Polling Transmission fi le is deleted after transmitting in “ User Parameters ” . To save the file to transmit repeat- edly, set to “ Standby (Save) ” . See p.147 “ Changing the User Parame- ters ” (switch 11, bit 7).

Transmission Mode 12 1 Polling Reception Use this function to poll a message from another termin al. You ca n also poll documents from m any terminals with only one operation (use Groups and Keystroke Programs to fully ex- ploit this fun ction). There are two type s of Polling Recep- tion.

Resending a File 21 2 Resending a File Machine memory stores messages that could not be suc cessfully t rans- mitted using Memory Transmissi on. Use this procedure to resend these mess ages . Preparation You should select “ Store for 24 hours ” for “ Store a message that could not be transmitte d ” in User Paramet ers.
Checking and Canceling Transmission Files 22 2 Printing a List of Files in Memory (Print TX File List) Print this list if yo u want to find out which files are stored in memory and what their file numbers are. Knowing the file number can be useful (for ex - ample when erasing file s).
23 3. Communication Information Printing the Journal The Journal contain s information about the la st 50 communications (maximum) mad e by your machine. It is printed autom atically after every 50 commu nications (recept ions & trans- missi ons) .

Communication Information 34 3 Printing a File Received with Memory Lock This is a se curity func tion designed t o prevent unauthori zed users from reading your message s. If Memory Lock is switched on, all received mes- sages are stored in memory and are not automat ically pri nted.

On Hook Dial 51 4 On Hook Dial This is just like using the external tel- ephone, except y ou do not have to pick up the external telephone before dialing. Jus t press the { { { { On Hook Dia l } } } } key and dial th e number. If you hear a voice, you can p ick up the exter nal telephone and speak with the other party.

More Transmission Functions 73 4 Broadcasti ng Sequence If you dial several destina tions for the same message (broadcasti ng), the messages are sent in the order in which they wer e dialed. If th e fax message c ould n ot be transm itted, the machine redials that des tination after the last destina tion specified f or broadcas ting.
Other Transmission Features 74 4 Note ❒ This functio n can use a maximu m of three lines simulta neously. ❒ When using th e optional extra G3 interface unit, if you s et the line se- lection as “ G3 Auto ” beforehand, the machine will use whichever G3 line is not busy.
Printed Report 75 4 Printed Report Memory Stor age Report Th is r ep ort is pri n ted af ter an o r ig ina l is stored in memory. It helps you re- view the contents and the destina- tions of s tored orig inals. Ev en if the machine is set up not to print this re- port, it is still printed if an original could not be stored.
Other Transmission Features 76 4 Transmissi on Result Repor t (Immediat e Transmis sion) If you turn this rep ort on, a report will be printed after every Immed iate Transmissi on so you have a record of whether the transmissio n was suc- cessful or not.
77 5. Reception Features Reception Immediate Rece ption Each page of a fax message is printed as soon as it is received. This method is used for standard fax messages.
Reception Features 78 5 Important ❒ When about one hour passes after power to the mac hine is turned off, all fax messa ges sto red in memory will be lost. If any mes sages ha ve been lost for this reason, a P ower Fail ure Re port is auto mati call y printed when the operation swi tch is tu rned on.
Reception 79 5 Substitu te Rec eption In Substitute Reception, a received fax message is stored in m emory instead of being prin ted. Substitut e Reception gets used when the machine cannot print any fax messages.
Reception Features 80 5 Receiving message s according to parameter- specified settings If one of the conditions listed below occurs, the machine rec eives only those mes- sages that match the conditions specif ied in the User Parameter s. See p.147 “ Changing the User Pa rameters ” (switch 05, bit 2,1).

Reception Functions 83 5 Auto Fax Recept ion Power-up This ma chine can be set to shut down automatically if no one has used it for a while. In th ese situ ations , even though the operation switch is off, the machine can still recei ve incoming messages as long as the main power switch is on.
Reception Features 84 5 Printing Options Print Comp letio n Beep When this function i s turned on, the machine beeps to let you know when a received message has been printed. Note ❒ You can alter th e volume of the beep or tur n it o ff com pletely (set the v olu me to the min imu m lev el).
Printing Options 85 5 Reception Time You can have the date and tim e print- ed at the bottom of the message when it is recei ved. You can tu rn this func- tion o n or off using Rec eption Set ting.

Printing Options 87 5 Image Rotati on If y ou hav e set paper in the s tandar d tray K , incoming fax messages will be rotat ed automatica lly to fit onto the paper. Note ❒ You can choo se to have r eceived messages printed from a specified tray. See p.
Reception Features 88 5 Page Separa tion an d Length Reduction When the size of a received message is longer than th e paper lo aded in the machine, each page of the message can be split and printed on several sheets, or reduced and printed on a single sheet.
Printing Options 89 5 Page Re duction If you receive a message that is longer than the pa per in the cass ette, the ma- chine usually prints it on two pages. If you turn this function on, the ma- chine r educes the widt h and length o f the received image so that it will fit on one page.
Reception Features 90 5 ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Priority Table • KK and LL indicate that th e message is split over two p ages of paper with the orientation and size shown. Note ❒ Paper placed in the bypass tray is not usually selected fo r printing a received mes sage.
