1 Introduction Features The Mobile Video HDD was specially designed as a dual-use hard disk drive. When attached to a PC, it operates as a Hi-speed USB 2.
About the Remote Controller How to take and store the remote controller This device is designed with a remot e contro l stor age compartment on the bottom.

4 How to Use the Mobile Video HDD Besides being used as a hi gh-speed external hard disk drive to store or ac cess f iles, this device can also connect to y our video equipment t o playback all kinds of audio/video f ile formats. Please read the follow ing sections according to your ap plication.
Using the AV Playback Function Connecting to AV Equipment Using Composite Video Output The composite video is the mo st popular video output method. 6 Using the AV Playback Function Using Composite Stereo Audio Output T o output the ste reo audio signal, refer to Fi g. 1, connect this co nnector to TV or A V amplif ier (receiver).
Using the AV Playback Function Activating the Mobile Video HDD for AV Playback 1. T urn on your TV and A V receiver , and switch to the correct i nput channel . 2. Make sure the Mobil e Video HDD is turn ed on (blue LED lights up) a nd press ( STANDBY ) button to activate this unit.

10 Using the AV Playback Function Hiding Private Folders 1. On “File NAVI” screen, press the TITLE button to go b ack to “ROOT” folder . 2. Use 0~9 buttons to enter 4 digits of an i ncorrect pass word. 3. If the passwor d is incorrect, th e privat e folders will disappear i mmediately .
Using the AV Playback Function VCD and Mpeg1 Files Ö Movie3 The f iles that meet th e Mpeg1 format This kind of media f ile includes all f iles that m eet the Mpeg1 format (the f ilename extensions are dat, mpe, mpeg). T o play , select a f ile or a f older whic h contains the f iles, and then pr ess PLAY .

Using the AV Playback Function 13 Fast Forward Fast rewind F ast fo rward: quickly pla ys the f ile forward (the speed c an be changed). Rewind: quickl y plays the f ile backward (the speed c an be changed). Fa s t f o r w a r d Press button to change the speed.
14 Using the AV Playback Function Skip Playback Skip forwar d or backward f or a segment, and then play . Skip forward Press butt on. Skip backward Press button. Repeat Playback Shuffle Playback Repeat Pl ayback: re peat plays th e current f ile. Shuffle Repeat: r andomly play all f iles in the current folder .
Using the AV Playback Function Time Searching Enter the time d esired to play the movie. 15 Display Press SEARCH 2 times, the screen displays _ _ : _ _ : _ _ (hh:mm:ss). Input Press 0~9 or buttons to input the desir ed value. Play Press PLAY , the movie will be play ed at the indicated ti me.
16 Using the AV Playback Function Change View Angle While playing a mo vie which contains mu lti view angles, you can chang e it. Change angle Press A NGLE button. Zoom In Enlarge the image. Zo o m i n Press ZOOM button to enlarge the image. Move If the image is larger than the screen, press to move it.
Using the AV Playback Function Function Setup Press SETU P to display the “ Setup Menu” . See the following to set up the functio ns: Operation of “Setup Menu” 1. Press to sele ct the sub-me nu. 2. Press PLAY to e nter the sub-menu. 3. Select “Exit Setup” and pr ess PLAY to exit.
18 Using the AV Playback Function DVD Subtitle Select the language for the def ault subtitle when playing a DVD movi e. If “OFF” is selected, the subtitl e will not be displ ayed when play back. Audio Setup This sub-menu can be set onl y after the playback is stopped.
19 Using the AV Playback Function Video Setup This sub-menu c an be set only after th e playback is stopped. TV Standard MULTI : According to the TV , outputs the corres ponding signal. NTSC : Outputs NTSC signal to TV . PAL : Outputs PAL signal to TV .
20 Using the AV Playback Function Preferences Setup Screen Saver ON : When the player stops for 5 minutes, the sc reen saver will start automatically . OFF : Disables the screen saver . Angle Mark When playing a multi angl e DVD movie, a mark will be dis played on scr een.
PC Operation The installati on CD contains the d evice driver , utility program and the user’s manual. The utility program allows you to set the folders in Mobile Video HD D as “Private” or “Publi c” .
22 PC Operation Connecting to PC Connecting with USB 2.0 Interface 1. Connect the plug of AC adapter to the connect or marked “DC IN” , plug the other end into the electrical outlet. 2. Connect the USB plug to the USB con nector . Then connect the other plug to com puter’s USB 2.
PC Operation Disconnecting from PC When you are ready to disconnect Mobile Video HDD from PC , follow these steps: 1. Close all the programs that are accessing the Mobile Video HD D.
24 PC Operation About the File System of Hard Disk The Mobile Video HDD i s pre-f ormatted as a NTFS or F AT32 di sk, you can di rectly access this drive after connected to PC.
PC Operation Copying Media Files for Playback When used as an external hard d isk, the Mobile Vid eo HDD can store any type of f iles. When used as a media pla yer , it can only browse and pla yback the specif ic media f ile formats. Please read the f ollowing before us ing it as a media play er .
26 PC Operation DivX / Xvid Files Usually , these media f iles ca n be downloaded from the Interne t. Most of this k ind of f iles are distribut ed with movie f ile and subtitl e f ile separately .
PC Operation the digital camera sto res the photo in JPG f ile format. Crea te a folder in the Mobile Vi deo HDD, and then copy the JPG files into the folder just created.
28 PC Operation Using the Utility Program The name of the utility program is “Pri vate F older Setup” , it allows you to set the specif ic folders in Mo bile Video HDD as “Priv ate Folders” , and these f olders will not be displayed on TV when using the AV playback function.

31 PC Operation Partitioning the Hard Disk under Windows Me/98SE FDISK is a progr am to create one or more part itions on the hard disk driv e. (Data can only be written to the dri ve after the driv e is partitioned and formatted). T o partition the Mobile Video HDD, you must execute FDISK under the MS-DOS mode.
