The tire-change tool kit contains: R Jack R Lug wrench R One pair of gloves R Folding wheel chock Flat tire Preparing the vehicle Your vehicle may be equipped with: R MOExtended tires (tires with run-flat properties) ( Y page 295) Vehicle preparation is not necessary on vehicles with MOExtended tires.
conditions/maneuvers, or it can be incre ased through a moderate style of driving. The maximum permissible distance which can be driven in run-flat mode is counted from the moment the tire pressure loss warning appears in the multifunction di splay. You mus tn ot exceed a maximum speed of 50 mph (80 km/h).
R Immediately change out of clothing which has come into contact with tire sealant. R If an allergic reaction occurs, seek medical attention immediately. Using the TIREFI Tk it TIREFIT is a tire sealant. You can use TIREFIT to seal punctures of up to 0.
i First, tire sealant is pumped into the tire. The pressure can briefly rise to approximately 500 kPa (5 bar/73 psi). Do no ts witch off the tire inflation compressor during this phase. X Let the tire inflation compressor run for a maximum of te nm inutes.
X Stop after driving for approximately ten minutes and check the tire pressure with the tire inflation compressor. The tire pressure mus tn ow be at least 130 kPa (1.3 bar/19 psi). G WARNING If the required tire pressure is not reached after driving for a short period, the tire is too badly damaged.
G WARNING Work carried out incorrectly on the battery can lead, for example, to a short circuit and thus damage the vehicle electronics. This can lead to function restrictions applying to safety-relevant systems, e.g. the lighting system, ABS (anti-lock braking system) or ESP ® (Electronic Stability Program).

Observe the service intervals in the Maintenance Booklet or contact a qualified specialist workshop for more information. ! You should have all work involving the battery carried out at aq ualified specialist workshop.
consumers .T he vehicle will then use very little energy, thus conserving battery power. i If the power supply has been interrupted, e.g. if you reconnect the battery, you will have to: R set the clock (audio system/COMAND, see the separate operating instructions).
Jump-starting For the jump-starting procedure, use only the jump-starting connection point, consisting of a positive terminal and an earth point, in the engine compartment. G WARNING Battery acid is caustic. There is a risk of injury. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes or clothing.
Do not start the vehicl eu sing a rapid charging device. If your vehicle's battery is discharged, the engine can be jump-started from another vehicle or from a second battery using jumper cables. Observe the following points: R The battery is not accessible in all vehicles.
Position number B identifies the charged battery of the other vehicle or an equivalent jump- starting device. X Press together cover : of positive clamp ; and slide it back. X Connec tp ositive terminal ; on your vehicle to positive terminal = of donor battery B using the jumper cable, beginning with your own battery.
! If DISTRONIC PLUS or the HOLD function is activated, the vehicle brakes automatically in certain situations. To prevent damage to the vehicle, deactivate DISTRONIC PLUS and the HOLD function in the following or other simila rs ituations: R when towing the vehicle R in the car wash ! Only secure the tow rope or tow bar at the towing eyes.
Towing the vehicle with the front axle raised Only vehicles without 4MATIC can be towed with the front axle raised. ! Vehicles with 4MATIC must not be towed with either the front or the rea ra xle raised, as doing so will damage the transmission.
Notes on 4MATIC vehicles ! Vehicles with 4MATIC must not be towed with eithe rt he front or the rear axle raised, as doing so will damage the transmission. Vehicles with 4MATIC may only either be towed away with both axles on the ground or be loaded up and transported.
! Make sure that no moisture can enter the fuse box when the cover is open. ! When closing the cover, make sure that it is lying correctly on the fuse box. Moisture seeping in or dirt could otherwise impair the operation of the fuses. X Open the hood.

the unusual handling characteristics .I fy ou find no signs of damage, have the wheels and tires checked at a qualified specialist workshop. R When parking your vehicle, make sure that the tires do not get deformed by the curb or other obstacles.
Bar indicator : for tread wear is integrated into the tire tread. Treadwear indicators (TWI) are required by law. Six indicators are positioned on the tire tread. They are visible once the tread depth is approximately á in (1.6 mm). If this is the case, the tire is so wo rn that it mus tb e replaced.
safety systems such as ABS and ESP ® to function optimally in winter. These tires have been developed specifically for driving in snow. Use M+S tires of the same make and tread on all wheels to maintain safe handling characteristics. Always observe the maximum permissible speed specified for the M+S tires you have mounted.
Tire pressure Tire pressure specifications G WARNING Underinflated or overinflated tires pose the following risks: R the tires may burst, especially as the load and vehicle speed increase. R the tires may wear excessively and/or unevenly, which may greatly impai rt ire traction.
Example: tire pressure table wi th tire dimensions Some tire pressure tables sho wo nly the rim diameters instead of the full tire size, e.g. R18 .R im diameter is part of the tire size and can be found on the tire sidewall ( Y page 330).
checking the pressure of warm tires. Only correct the tire pressure if it is too low for the current operating conditions .I fy ou check the tire pressure when the tires are warm, the resulting value will be higher than if the tires were cold. This is normal.
Information on air pressure for the tires on you rv ehicle can be found: R on the vehicle's Tire and Loading Information placard on the B-pillar R on the tire pressure label on the fuel filler fl.
X Before restarting, make sure that the tire pressures are set properly on all fou rt ires for the respective operating conditions. The recommended tire pressures can be found on the Tire and Loading Information placard on the B-pillar on the driver's side or the tire pressure table on the fuel filler flap.
tires are significantly underinflated. Accordingly, when the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you shoul ds top and check your tires as soo na s possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a significantly underinflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure.
The tire pressure values indicated by the on- board computer may differ from those measured at a gas station with a pressure gauge. The tire pressures shown by the on- board computer refer to those measured at sea level. At high altitudes, the tire pressure values indicated by a pressure gauge are higher than those shown by the on-board computer .
X Set the tire pressure to the value recommended for the corresponding driving situation on the Tire and Loading Information placard on the dri ver's side B-pillar ( Y page 316). Additional tire pressure values for different loads can also be found on the tire pressure table on the inside of the fuel fille rf lap ( Y page 316).
The maximum gross axle weight rating is the maximum weight that can be carried by one axle (front or rear axle). Never exceed the maximum load or the maximum gross axle weight rating for the front or rear axle.
X Step 4: The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage load capacity. For example, if the "XXX" amount equals 1400 lbs and there are five occupants in the vehicle each with a weight of 150 lbs, the amount of available cargo and luggage load capacity is 650 lbs (1400 Ò 750 (5 x 150) = 650 lbs).
Example: steps 1 to 3 The following table shows examples on how to calculate total and cargo load capacities with varying seating configurations and number and size of occupants. The following examples use a maximum load of 1500 lbs (68 0k g) . This is fo ri llustration purposes only.
Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Step 3 Permissible load and trailer load/ noseweight (maximum permissible load rating from the Tire and Loading Information placard minus the gross weight of all occupant.
