Occupant safety 43 SRS indicator lamp The SRS system conducts a self-test when the ignition is switched on and in regular intervals while the engine is running.
Occupant safety 44 a properly seated position and to wear their respective seat belt. For maximum protection in the event of a collision always be in normal seated position with your back against the seat backrest. Fasten your seat belt and make sure it is properly positioned on your body.
Occupant safety 45 recommended for the size and weight of the child. (2) Always wear seat belts properly. Air bags are designed to deploy only in certain frontal impacts (front air bags), side impacts.
Occupant safety 46 free of objects (e.g. packages, purses, umbrellas, etc.). R Do not hang items such as coat hangers from the coat hooks or handles over the door. These items may be thrown around in the vehicle and cause head and other injuries when the window curtain air bag is deployed.
Occupant safety 47 R if the system determines that air bag deployment can offer additional protection to that provided by the seat belt R depending on whether the seat belt is in use R independently o.
Occupant safety 48 The front passenger side impact air bag will not deploy if the OCS senses that the front passenger seat is empty and the front passenger seat belt is not fastened (latch plate is not inserted into the buckle).

Occupants, especially children, should always sit as upright as possible, wear the seat belt properly and use an appropriately sized infant restraint, toddler restraint, or booster seat recommended for the size and weight of the child.
Occupant safety 52 which are instances where the system may suppress deployment of the front passenger front air bag even though the impact met the criteria and was of sufficient severity to deploy th.
Occupant safety 53 An incorrectly mounted child seat could cause injuries to the child in case of an accident, instead of increasing protection for the child.
Occupant safety 54 Proper use of seat belts G Warning! USE SEAT BELTS PROPERLY R Seat belts can only work when used properly. Never wear seat belts in any other way than as described in this section, as that could result in serious injuries in case of an accident.
Occupant safety 55 in booster seats, always follow the child seat manufacturer’s instructions. G Warning! Do not pass seat belts over sharp edges. They could tear. Do not allow the seat belt to get caught in the door or in the seat adjustment mechanism.

Tires and wheels 279 Uniform Tire Quality Grading Standards The Uniform Tire Quality Grading is a U.S. Government requirement designed to give drivers consistent and reliable information regarding tire performance. Tire manufacturers are required to grade tires based on three performance factors: treadwear, traction, and temperature resistance.
Tires and wheels 280 Mercedes-Benz recommends winter tires ( Y page 284) with a minimum tread depth of approximately 1 / 6 in (4 mm) on all four wheels for the winter season to ensure normal balanced handling characteristics. On packed snow, they can reduce your stopping distance compared to summer tires.
Tires and wheels 281 Aspect ratio Dimensional relationship between tire section height and section width expressed in percentage. Bar Another metric unit for air pressure. There are 14.5038 pounds per square inch (psi) to 1 bar; there are 100 kilopascals (kPa) to 1 bar.
Tires and wheels 282 Normal occupant weight The number of occupants the vehicle is designed to seat, multiplied by 68 kilograms (150 lb). Occupant distribution The distribution of occupants in a vehicle at their designated seating positions.
Tires and wheels 283 Tread The portion of a tire that comes into contact with the road. Treadwear indicators Narrow bands, sometimes called “wear bars” that show across the tread of a tire when only 1 / 16 in (1.
Winter driving 284 Winter driving General information Have your vehicle winterized at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. Winter tires G Warning! Winter tires with a tread depth of less than 1 / 6 in (4 mm) must be replaced. They are no longer suitable for winter operation.
