3 USER MANUAL - version 3 1.1. wHaT Can THe dVr s TaTiOn dO? When connected to your ARCHOS device and to your home enter tainment system, the DVR Station will allow you to: schedule TV recordings via the ARCHOS TV Program Guide (EPG). schedule TV recordings manually .

7 USER MANUAL - version 3 C onnect the included c harg er/adapter to the jac k labeled dC-in on the back of the DVR Station. Then plug the other end of the charg er/adapter into an av ailable wall socket .
8 DVR St a tion Gen 5 TV ONL Y ( DIAGRAM C ON THE CONNECTION GUIDE ) When connected to your ARCHOS device and TV , the DVR Station will allow you to do everything described in the Introduction , except sc heduling TV recor dings. C onnect the DVR Station’ s outputs to your TV’s inputs (to displa y the image of the ARCHOS device on your TV).

Now insert your ARCHOS device (that is off ) into the powered D VR Station. When the ARCHOS is on, press the TV/LCD button (or the TV button on the included remote control).

12 DVR St a tion Gen 5 Go to www .archos.com /register Access your ARCHOS account (or create one if you don’ t have one yet) and reg ister your ARCHOS Gen 5 device. If you ha ve already reg istered your ARCHOS Gen 5 de - vice, nd the line that matc hes your product and click on More.
13 USER MANUAL - version 3 Y ou also have the possibility to let the ARCHOS automatically update the TV Program Guide information at night: Select the “ Settings ” men u item and set the “ Automatic Updates ” parameter to “ On ”. Then leave your ARCHOS on the powered DVR Station at night.
1 4 DVR St a tion Gen 5 3.4. COnfiguring THe TV COnTrO l seTTings Y our ARCHOS needs to be connected to the D VR Station. Y ou also need to have connected your tuner to the DVR Station (see: Diagram B on the Connection Guide sheet).

16 DVR St a tion Gen 5 Select the “ T est channel select ” button. Make sur e that your tuner is on. Y our ARCHOS device will then attempt to switch your tuner to the selected channel. After a few seconds, your ARCHOS will ask you if the device responded correctl y: If this worked, select “ Y es ” .
17 USER MANUAL - version 3 3.5. sCHeduling yOur reCO rding In the Home screen, select the “ Recorder ” icon to display the ARCHOS TV Pro gram Guide. This screen ’ s menu items will allow you to choose a diff erent day , update the Program Guide data, or c hange v arious settings (progr am guide update and c hannel list con- guration).
18 DVR St a tion Gen 5 Here you can schedule a new recor ding or edit an existing one: you can remov e it , edit its title, c hange the time, date, channel , etc . Y ou also have the possibility to add a safety mar gin to the beginning /end of the sc heduled recor ding .
19 USER MANUAL - version 3 4. reCO rding audiO/VideO manu a ll y 4.1. reCO rding audiO manu a ll y With the DVR Station, you will be able to record audio from most an y standard audio sour ce (hi-, turntable, boombox, etc). RECORDING PROCEDURE Y our ARCHOS needs to be connected to the DVR Station.
20 DVR St a tion Gen 5 Be careful that the audio s ource is supplying a line-level and not an amplied signal (turning down the volume of the player will w ork if you are using the headphone out signal of your audio device). A signal that is amplied too much will result in a terribl y distor ted recor ding.

23 USER MANUAL - version 3 Open the video le you w ant to edit and pause it. In the progr ession bar, go to the beginning of the r st undesired section (a), select the “ Insert a mark ” menu item, and choose “ Start Mark ”.

25 USER MANUAL - version 3 TO DISCONNECT Make sure that no tr ansfer is being made (the Hdd light , on your ARCHOS device, should not be ickering). Fr om the File Browser , select the “ Remove safely ” menu item. Y ou can now pull out the USB cable on either end.
