Introduction Congratulations on purchasing the Meade ® CaptureVie w ® CV -2. CV -2 is an 8 x 30mm full-featured binocular . It is integrated with a digital camera that requires no film to capture pictures or video . This manual is designed to quic kly guide you through the operation of your CaptureVie w CV -2.
10 How to Use Y our Binocular Adjust Eye Relief Adjust the Barrels Y ou need to adjust the barrels, as the distance between your e yes is usually different than the distance betw een another person’ s eyes . If you wear e yeglasses, f old down the rubber ey ecups and hold the ey epieces up against your glasses.
Focus the Binocular 1. Set the Diopter Scale on underside of CaptureView at its center point between “+” and “-. ” 2. Choose an object (such as a telephone pole) that is at least 50 feet (15m.) a way . 3. Looking with only your left e ye , rotate the Focus Knob until the object y ou are vie wing is focused.
12 Inser t Batteries Select an Operation 1. Make sure camera is off bef ore changing batteries . 2. Push the battery compar tment lid forw ard and lift to open. 3. Inser t 2 AAA 1.5v (user-supplied) batteries into the compar tment, noting the correct polarity as illustrated inside the compartment.
Select Near or Far Focus 1. Press and hold the Mode button f or 3 seconds to turn on the camera. 2. The binocular can be focused using the focus knob . Howe ver , the camera can be set to Near or F ar focus using the focus ring, and is not aff ected by the focus knob .
T aking Pictures and Video 14 T ake a Still Picture 1. Press and hold the Mode button f or 3 seconds to turn on the camera. The camera will beep and the camer a icon displa ys on the LCD . The counter , batter y life and resolution icons also display .
Capture Video 1. Press and hold the Mode button f or 3 to 5 seconds to turn on the cam- era. 2. Press the Mode button once and the Video mode icon displays . 5. Point the binoculars at the scene y ou wish to capture. 4. Press the Shutter button. The camer a now captures video .
16 Flashback If you w ant to ... Do this... For e xample, you ma y want to record a baseball pitcher throwing a pitch: 1. Select the Flashback icon. 2. Press the Shutter button to begin recording while the pitcher pre- pares. After the pitcher throws the ball, click on the Shutter b utton again to turn off recording.
Some suggestions f or using Flashback Let’ s say y our daughter is on the varsity bask etball team. And right now , she’s dribbling down the court. Y ou’ d like to capture her patented hook shot on video. This is a job for Flashbac k. Select the Flashback icon and press the Shutter b utton as she sets off down cour t.
18 Use the Mode and Shutter Buttons Note: If you do not perf or m an oper ation f or 60 seconds , the camera automatically switches off . • Press and hold the Mode button f or 3 to 5 seconds to turn the camera on or off. • Use the Mode button to cycle through the operation icons.
Use the Camera Mode Change the Camera Resolution H: High Resolu tio n mode ( 1280 x 1024 ). L: Lo w Resolution mode ( 640 x 480 ). The default setting is High Resolution. If you w ant to ... 20 Use the Video Mode Note: The length of a movie depends on ho w much memory you hav e availab le. A udio recording is not av ailable with this camera. Use Flashbac k Note: Flashback captures 10 sec- onds of video . • K eep pressing the Mode button until the Video icon displays.
Find Out How Man y Pictures Y ou Ha ve T aken Counter Display If you w ant to ... Do this... • Erase Last. K eep pressing the Mode button until the Erase Last Image icon displays and then press the Shutter button. The icon flashes. Press the Shutter b utton again to er ase the last captured image or movie.
22 Operations Use the Self-timer • K eep pressing the Mode button until the Self-timer icon displays and press the Shutter button. The camera then pauses f or about 10 seconds: It sends out 6 slow and then 6 fast w ar ning beeps before taking the picture.
Find Out Why CaptureView is Beeping Note: When the battery is low , CaptureView sends out six short high beeps. It is recommended you do wnload the pictures or change the batteries at this time. Y ou have 60 seconds to change the batteries before y our images are deleted.

Other Software The included CD ROM contains other softw are programs b y Ulead that will assist you in editing your images , allow y ou to transf er images to email, and provide you with other useful functions.
28 Care of your CaptureVie w 1. Nev er immerse CaptureView in liquid. Remove dust or stains with a soft cloth dampened with water or neutral detergent. K eep in a dr y , cool dust-free environment or a container when it is not being used. Do not spra y liquid cleaners directly onto LCD .
