4 Features The V-R241-D LW (Dual Link / W aveform) monitor is the lates t addition to Marshall's ex panding line of IMD-equipped monitors. ■ 1920 x 1200 Full Re solution 24” Panel The V-R241-D LW f eatures an all-digit al TFT- MegaPixel ac tive mat rix LCD s ystem with 1920x1200 native r esolution.
5 Installation and Initial Setup ■ Unpack ing Carefully unpac k the V-R241-DLW monitor and v erify that the follo wing items are included: • V-R241-DLW Monitor • V-PS24-7.5 Power Suppl y with XLR Connector • Operat ing Instru ctions Inspect t he unit f or any physical dama ge that ma y have occ urred during shipping.
6 Front Panel Features Power Button Turn t he monitor off or on by pressing t he power button. The LED on t he power button is at maximum illumina tion when the unit is OFF. The LED is at m inimum illumina tion when t he unit is on. Input Channel Buttons Pressing SDI 1 or SDI 2 will select HDSDI-SDI Video Inputs 1 or 2, respect ively.
7 Rear Panel Features RS-422/485 Serial Inter face The RS-422/48 5 ports are used t o remotely contr ol the IMD or all V-R241-DLW features, using a variet y of industry standard prot ocols. (Note: Connector/pi n-out may n eed to be adapte d depending on protocol and controll ing device used.

9 DLW Monitor Layouts The V-R241-D LW has 4 p ossible l ayouts, Multi mode, Vector scope mode, Wa veform m ode and Full Sc reen Video mode. Eac h press of the L AYOUT Button wi ll c hange the current mo de to next available mode.

12 On-Screen Men u (continued) M A IN MENU A ND N A VIG A TION Access and navigate the main menu using the RotoMenu™ knob: Using the RotoMenu kn ob • Press the RotoMenu™ kn ob to enter the main menu. • Rotate t he knob to s croll up or down in the main menu or each submenu.
13 ■ 16:9 Markers Use t his setting to s uperimpose one of 10 mar kers on the screen when in 16: 9 or Full Screen mode. T his setting is disabled when the as pect ratio is s et to 4:3, or when Pixel-t o-Pixel mode is enable d. Note that in Full Screen mode, markers a re vertically st retched along w ith the picture to f it the 16:10 screen.
14 4:3 Marker Examples: ■ Marker Background Use t his setting to c hoose how selected m arkers are displayed on t he screen: • Off The marker is superimpose d on t he complete image. • 50% Gra y Screen area be yond t he marker is shown at 50% int ensity.
15 Video Config Sub me nu Use t he Video Configuration submenu t o select various video set tings such as monochrome mod e or blue-o nly mode. ■ Monochrome Mode Use t his setting to enable monochrome mo de. On ly the luminance o f the image will be d isplayed as a grayscale picture.
16 ■ Pixel-to-Pixel Mode Use t his setting to enable Pixel-to-Pixe l mode. This mode b ypasses t he monitor’s intern al scaling f unction and displays images in t heir native resolution and asp ec.
17 ■ Curtain Color Use t his setting to c hoose the default color dis played on t he screen when no v ideo input is present. Available colors are blue , r ed , green , w hite , and black .
18 ■ HDMI CSC Auto (HDMI input only, via the DVI-I interface) The HDMI CSC Aut o setting is us ed to accommodate newer HDMI interf aces that sen d colorspace signaling in the HDMI data stream. If t his sett ing is set to On , t he monitor will auto matically det ermine which colorspace s ett ing to use.
19 ■ Use r-Definable Functio n Buttons Use t he Function 1 , Fu nction 2 , Function 3 and Functi on 4 menu items t o define each f unction button on the front panel of t he monitor.
20 OSD Config Subm enu Use t he OSD Conf iguration submenu to select a variety of info rmation to be displayed on the screen. ■ IMD State Use t his setting to t urn the IMD text displa y on or of f. This setting affects bot h fixed string I MD text and remote IMD text commands.
21 ■ OSD Ta ll y Use t his setting to c hoose how tally is dis played on t he screen. T he available OSD Tally options depend o n the Tally Source select ed in the I MD Conf iguration submenu W hen .
22 Use t his setting to enable time c ode display on t he screen. T ime code is de-embedded fr om the v ertical ancillary data (VANC) within t he HD /SDI signal. Two types of t ime code can be selected to display on the screen: LTC (linear ti me code) or VITC (vertical interval tim e code) .
23 IMD Config Subm enu ■ Overview The V-R241-D LW f eatures an In-M onitor Display (I MD) with the ability t o display on-scr een text and ta lly in three colors. I MD text, color, and alignment can be ass igned to eac h screen locally using menu options (see belo w).
24 . TSL v4.0 Use t he TSL v4.0 prot ocol setting when contr olling the IMD f rom a TSL t ally controller, or other contr olling device which utilizes t he TSL v4.0 protocol. The IMD # must be set fo r each screen in conjunction with t he contr olling device.
25 ■ IMD Baud Rate Use t his setting to c hoose the baud ra te. The b aud rate must be set in c onjunction with t he contr olling device. A vailable baud rates are 300 , 600 , 1200 , 2400 , 4800 , 9600 , 19200 , 38400 , 57600 , 115200 . The TSL v4.0 protocol is f ixed at 38400 bauds.
26 ■ IMD Fixed String Use t his setting to display stat ic IMD text on the screen. This s etting is used t o enter IMD text locally, when a s erial protocol is not used for remote c ontrol. The IMD Fixed String is saved after power cycle. The IMD Fixed String w ill be overridden by serial pro tocol commands .
27 The EIA-608 caption protocol can define the color f or the closed caption text. Use this setting to choose between using the color defi ned by the data stream or to ov erride this data with any of the selected colors. The default setting for option is Auto.
28 • RGB Parade The R ( shown in Red), G (shown in Green) and B (s hown in Blue) components of the signal are displayed fr om left t o right. • RGB Overlay The RGB c omponents of the signal are overlaid. ■ Waveform Scale Use t he Waveform s cale option to switch between diffe rent graticule units on t he W aveform display.
29 Use t he Colorize W aveform option to add or remove color f rom the W aveform display. W hen Colorize W aveform is ON, the YUV and RGB data compone nts on th e W aveform display will appear in dif ferent colors. W hen Colorize W aveform is OFF, all YUV and RGB dat a component s will appear as white on the Waveform di splay.
30 ■ DID/SDID Use t his section to s elect which packet IDs should be counted on the DLW monitor display. For example, 0x6060 would count the Timeco de data pack ets, 0x6101 would count the EIA-708 CC data packet s and 0x6102 would count the EIA -608 CC dat a packets.

34 Maintenance ■ Screen Cleaning Periodically clea n the s creen surface using ammonia-f ree cleaning wipes (Mars hall Part No. V-HWP- K ). A clean micro- fiber c loth can also be used using only non-abrasive an d ammonia-f ree cleaning agents. Do not us e paper towels.
