5 Intr oduction Thank you for selecting the Marantz Professional PMD620M K II Handheld Solid State Recorder . The PMD620MK II is an audio recor der that records in digital audio formats onto a SD (Secure Digital) memory card. SD cards, also used in digital cameras, ar e widely available at consumer electronics r etailers and computer resellers.
6 – Computer compatible The PMD620MK II recor ds directly onto SD cards. Recordings can be transferred to your desktop or laptop computer by removing the SD car d from the PMD620MK II or by connecting the PMD620MK II to your computer via the USB port.
7 Quic k Star t Guide Follow the instructions on this page to Quick Start your new PMD620MK II Solid State Recorder and begin r ecording. The PMD620MK II comes with factory preset defaults for MP3 recor ding using inter nal microphones. 1. Unpack the A C adapter and the PMD620MK II .

26 Recording Time Chart All times are appr oximated record times. Differ ent media manufacturers allow more or less space for err or correction and the like on their r espective products.
27 Recording Le vel Control The recor ding level control lets you select the type of input level control. – At the Manual Level Contr ol When Manual is set in the Level Control setting, pr ess the REC LEVEL + or REC LEVEL – button to control the audio input level.

37 Adv anced Features Microphone(s) – Attenuator The microphone attenuation switch permits the direct use of microphones that dif fer in sensitivity . • 0dB : Nomicrophoneattenuation. • –12dB : Input from a micr ophone(s) connected to the MIC jack is cut by 12dB.
38 Low Cut Filter The bass region of the input audio is cut as the audio is recor ded. Set to On to reduce noise, such as the sound of the wind when recor ding outdoors.

62 9. Silent Skip The Silent Skip automatically pauses recor ding when there is a period of silence and resumes r ecording when sound resumes. This feature is often r eferred to as voice activated recor ding. Silent Skip looks for sound below a preset level for three seconds time.

65 15. Key Loc k The key lock secures the PMD620M K II in the state it is in during Record, Playback or Stop. If this setting is All, all buttons on PMD620MK II are invalid. If this setting is Partial, the REC , REC P A USE and ST OP / CANCEL buttons are accepted.
66 17. Auto P o wer Off If the PMD620MK II is not operated for 15 minutes during Stop or Play-Pause mode, the power can be automatically shut off to conserve battery life. 1. 69 22. Machine ID An audio file has Machine ID information. This infor mation is included in the file name. For example, if the Machine ID is “aaaaa”, the first file is numbered “aaaaa001.wav” or “aaaaa001.mp3”. The Machine ID setting applies to all three pr esets.
