Side handle CA UTION: • Use the side handle only when chipping, scaling or demolishing.
9 Installing or removing the bit Clean the bit shank and apply bit grease bef ore installing the bit. Inser t the bit into the tool. T urn the bit and push it in until it engages. If the bit cannot be pushed in, remov e the bit. Pull the chuck cov er down a couple of times.
10 Depress the lock b utton and rotate the change lev er so that the pointer points to the symbol. Then make sure that the bit is securely held in place by turning it slightly . Depth gauge The depth gauge is conv enient for drilling holes of unif or m depth.
11 Blow-out b ulb (optional accessor y) After drilling the hole, use the blo w-out bulb to clean the dust out of the hole. Chipping/Scaling/Demolition Set the change le ver to the symbol. Hold the tool firmly with both hands. T urn the tool on and apply slight pressure on the tool so that the tool will not bounce around, uncontrolled.
12 Use a screwdriv er to remove the brush holder caps. T ake out the worn carbon br ushes, insert the new ones and secure the brush holder caps. Lubrication CA UTION: • This serv icing should be perf or med by Makita A uthor ized or F actory Ser vice Centers only .
13 Remov e the crank cap using a he x wrench. Rest the tool on the table with the bit end pointing upw ards. This will allow the old grease to collect inside the crank housing. Wipe out the old grease inside and replace with a fresh grease (60 g; 2 oz).
