8. Menu S y ste m The Main Display on the front p anel of the TDA 2200 sh ows all functionalit y and current status of the TDA 2200. An overview of the menu tree can be see n in the appendix.
a. Ro omPerfect™ The sub menus accessible in the Room Perfect™ m enu are: • Guided set-up • Advanced options (available when Guided set-up has been p erformed) RoomPerfect™ and the sub menu s are described in-depth in the RoomPerfect section, page 19.
The crossover frequen cy can be selected anywhere betwe en 40 – 400Hz. Due to the limited frequency response of m ost conventional subwo ofers we do not recommend that you select a cross over frequency higher than 80 – 160Hz.
e. AD C Level - Otional The ADC Level m enu i s accessible when t he opti onal analog input module (A/D converter ) is installed. Here it is possible to choose between the inputs on the analog input module and a ssign each inp ut a LOW an d HIGH l evel .
g. Trigger Set-up Trigger set- up sets th e usa ge of the trigger output option. If e.g. an S DA2175 is con nected to drive a sub woofer from the Line out, the t rigger can be activated and used for co ntrolling the power of the SDA 2175. h. Remote Control Remote Control set-up makes it possi ble to activate or de-activat e the remote control.
j. Volume The sub menus accessible in the V olume menu are: • Def. Volume • Max. Volume The Default Volume se tting controls the def ault volume at start-up an d can be set f rom 0 to 99 dB. However, a s etting ove r 88 is not r ecommended as this c orresponds to m ax output with full scale digital input.
k. Ad vanced set-up The sub menus accessible in the Dis play menu are: • Master/Slave • Line Out Volume • Software version • Default As default a TDA 220 0 is set a s a Sl ave. The Master s etting should be us ed if you are using t wo T DA 2200, e.
9. RoomPerfe ct™ The actual perf ormance of a loudspeaker is k nown to be highly dependent o n the acoustics of you r listening room and your listening and l oudspeaker pos itions.
a. Th e Guided Set-up – a Quick Guide The RoomPerfect™ m enu is foun d under the TDA 2200 main menu. If you have just turned on your TDA 2200, p ress MENU to enter the T DA 2200 main menu. Thereafter press enter to enter th e RoomPerfect™ menu.
b. Setting the measurement volume level The measurement volum e – also called t he calibration volum e – is a recomm ended maximum volume. It is important tha t you alwa ys judge whether the measurement volume is too loud. The calibrat ion volume should not be so lo ud that it causes:- 1.
The test signal will st art and shortly thereaf ter the TDA 2200 w ill suggest an i nitial esti mate of the desired maximu m calibration volume (in dB). Please raise or lower the volume towards t he desired m aximum v olume shown on the display but ensure you avoid clip ping, uncomfortably l oud levels and damage t o the loudspeakers.
c. Fo cus Measurement W hen the calibration is OK, press e nter to start the me asuring process and the f ollowing message wi ll be displayed. Each m easurement comprises four steps: a low and a high frequency measuring signal first in the left a nd then in the right channel.
d. Room Measurements The numbe r of room positio ns needed depends on t he value of Room Knowledge, if it is below 90% after the third measurement the guide a utomatically incl udes extra r oom measurements until a RoomKnowledge of 90% or m ore has been achieved.
If it is an err or that ne eds correcting, then c orrect the error (se e RoomPerfect™ trouble- shooting) a nd proceed with the room position measur ement b y pr essing e nter. The measurement has ended s uccessfully whe n the last m easuring signal st ops and th e display shows the follo wing.
The above will be displa yed when exiting a successf ully com pleted guided set-up. Choose No if you wish to exit t he gui ded set-u p without calculating a ny room corr ection filters, without savin g the performed meas urements and without sett ing the calibration volume.
10. RoomPerfe ct™ Advan ced Menu This s ection describes the options in the adv anced men u. Here you can sel ect p osition, add new listening positions and room measurements, check the RoomKno wledge of your current set-up, and check t he RoomCorrection f or the different filters.
The sav ed cal ibration volu me from the guided s et-up is used as a de fault when adding extra focus/listening and r oom positions though, as menti oned, the volume can be changed at any time bet ween m easurements t o suit a particular situation.
c. Ad ding a New Room Position It is always possible to add more room m easure ments, which can increase RoomKnowledge and there by fine tune all the room correction filters. Press enter to start a ne w room measurement. As previously described, place th e m icrophone correctly in a ra ndom ro om position and the measurement can com mence.
Choose Y es t o sav e the perf ormed room measurement and No to exit without savin g a ny of the performed measurem ents. Adding one or m ore room measurements l eads to a r e-calculation of all filters (i.
placement in frequenc y of t he processing. For lo w values ( below 1 0%) of the room correction index, only subtle correcti on is needed to the original sound in the room . W ith high room correction index values m ore extensive processi ng is employed.
12. RoomPerfe ct™ Trou bleshootin g a. No microphone connected This is displayed when no microphone is connected to the TDA22 00. Solution: Connect the microphone on the rig ht-hand side of t he back panel. b. Fault - No signal The error message shown above is displayed when the incoming signal is c lassified as pure noise.
c. Fau lt - Signal clipping The a bove error message is di splayed when the incomi ng si gnal is cla ssified as too loud resulting in clipping (distortion). An overly loud measuring signal res ults in this error messag e. Solution: Lower the measuring si gnal volume before continuing w ith the measurement.
13. Softw are The TDA 2200 firm ware can be upgrad ed using the ‘Lyngdorf Serial Load, soft ware upgrade tool’. This is in t he PC package available from www.Lyngdorf.com. Follow the upgrade steps sh own below to bring the product int o upgrade mode.
14. Connector s a. Mains Con nector Mains voltage to the TDA 2200 is applied via an IEC320 type conne ct or. The s upplied cable with safety ground sh ould be used to connect the TDA 2200 to a mains outlet. WARNING: Conne ct the power input only to the AC source printed on the label.
15. Optional A D Con verter Board The Optional AD C onverter ca rd for the T DA 2200 h as input c onnectors f or both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) signals. The input imp edance of the inputs are 10 kOhm. a. Balanced inputs The balanced XLR inputs are wired in accordance with IEC 268: Pin 1: Chassis and ground.
17. Technical Specif ications a. Au dio Parameter Value Note Balanced input connectors 3 pin XLR, gold-plated. Case=Gnd, Pin1=Gnd, Pin2=Hot(+), Pin3=Cold(-) Balanced input impedance 10kOhm AC -coupled. Unbalanced input connectors RCA (phono) jack, gold-plated.
