Getting to Know the ProConnect ® 8- Station KVM Switch On Line P ort LED Orange. Indicates that the computer attached to the cor responding port is up and r unning. Selected P ort LED Green. Indicates the cur rently selected port. This LED will flash when the corresponding por t is accessed under Auto Scan mode.
Powe r The P o w er P or t is where y ou will connect the included A C Po w er Adapter . Console ports When using this KVM Switch alone, a monitor , key- board , and mouse are plugged into these ports.
1. Using one 8-Station KVM Switch as a Primary unit and the other eight 8- Station KVM Switches as Secondary units, use a Cabling Kit to connect the Console ports of the Secondar y Units to the CPU por ts of the Primary unit. In this wa y , the 64 CPU ports of the Secondar y units are a vailab le through the Primary unit.
1. Using one 8-Station KVM Switch as a Primary unit and the other eight 8-Station KVM Switches as Secondary units, use a Cabling Kit to connect the Console ports of the Secondar y Units to the CPU ports of the Primary unit.
If it becomes necessary to pow er do wn an 8-Station KVM Switch, you must perform the following prior to starting it back up: 1. Shut do wn all the PCs that are attached to the 8-Station KVM Switch, along with all other switches and PCs daisy chained.
2. T o access a PC attached to Po r t 3 of a T w o Stage installation, w here the PC is attached to Po r t 3 of a Second Stage (or Secondar y) unit that is cascad- ed do wn from Po r t 2 of the First Stage (or Primary) unit, key in 23 for the P or t ID , as follo ws: [CTRL] + [AL T] + [SHIFT] + 2 + 3 + [ENTER] 3.
T o cancel the cur rent selection on the menu screen, press the ESC key . This will also mo ve back one menu screen and , if on the main menu screen, it will also close the OSD menu. T o mo ve up or do wn through the menu list, press the up or do wn arro ws on your keyboard or click the Up or Do wn T riangles on the menu screen.
• F2 (Scan) Pressing the F2 ke y initiates Quick V iew Scanning, in w hich the OSD cycles through all of the ports that are cur rently selected in the List vie w (see F3 , belo w), and displays each one for the amount of time specif ied with the Set Scan Duration setting (see F6 , Set).
SETTING Channel Display Mode Channel Display Duration OSD Activating HotKey FUNCTION Selects how the Port ID is displayed: The Port Number plus the Name (PN + NAME); the Port Number alone (PN); or the Name alone (NAME). Determines how long a Port ID displays on the monitor after a port change has taken place: 3 Seconds; or Always On.
In order to pre vent unauthorized access to the PCs, the OSD pro vides a pass- w ord security feature. If a passw ord has been set, the OSD will request that the user pro vide it before allo wing access. T o set a passw ord: 1. Press the F6 ke y to bring up the setup conf iguration menu.
