Micro-SIM Card T ray The micro -SIM ca rd in some iP ad Wi-F i + 3G mod els is used f or cellu lar da ta. It’ s also known as a thi rd f orm factor (o r 3FF) SIM. If y our micro -SIM c ard w asn ’t pr einsta lled or if you change cellular data carriers, you may need t o install or replace the micro-SIM card .

Note: App functionality and availability may vary depending on where you purchase and use iP ad. Viewing in P or trait or Landscape Y ou can view iP ad‘s built-in apps in either por trait or landscape orientation. Rotate iP ad and the screen rotate s too , adjusting automatically to t the new orientation.
Multi-T ouch Screen The contr ols on the Multi-T ouch screen change dynamically , depending on the task you ’ re per forming. T o control iP ad, use your ngers to tap , double-tap, and swipe. Adjusting Brightne ss T o adjust the screen ’ s brightness, double-click the Home button to view the Multitasking status bar .
Zooming In or Out When viewing photos, webpages , email, or maps, you can zoom in and out. Pinch your ngers together or apart. F or photos and webpages , you can double-tap (tap twice quickly) to zoom in, then double-tap again to zoom out. For maps, double-tap to zoom in and tap once with two ngers to zoom out.
If you touch the wrong key , you can slide your nger to the correct key . The lett er isn ’t entered un til you release your nger fr om the key . Backspace to delete the previous character T ap . Quickly type a period and space Double-tap the space bar .
Using an Ap ple Wireless Keyboard F or ease of typing, you can use an Apple Wireless Keyboard with iP ad. The Apple Wireless Keyboard connects using Bluetooth, so you must pair the keyboard with iP ad.
Accept or reject dictionary suggestions: m T o reject the suggested wor d, nish t yping the word as you w ant it, then tap the suggestion to dismiss it befor e typing anything else. Each time you reject a suggestion for the same wor d, iP ad becomes more likely to accept y our word .
P aste text: T ap the insertion point, then tap Paste t o inser t the last text that you cut or copied. Or , select text, then tap Past e to replace the text. Undo the last edit: Shake iP ad, or tap undo on the keyboard. Keyboar d Layouts Y ou can use Settings to set the lay outs for the onscreen software keyboard and for an y hardware keyboards.

Setting Up iPad Before you can use iP ad, you must use iT unes to set it up . Y ou can also register iP ad and create an Apple ID (not a vailable in some countries) if you don ’t already hav e one. Set up iPad: 1 Download and install the latest version of iT unes from www .
Books and audiobooks  iT unes U collections  Photos and videos (in your comput er ’ s photo app or folder)  Contacts—names , phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and more  Calendars.
Y ou can set iP ad to sync only a por tion of what ’ s on your comput er . For example , you might want to sync only c er tain music playlists, or only unwatched video podcasts. Important: Y ou should log in to your own user account on y our computer before connecting iPad .
iP ad Settings P anes in iT unes The follo wing sections provide an overview of each of the iPad settings panes . F or more information, open iT unes and choose Help > iT unes Help. Summary Pane Select “Open iT unes when this iPad is attached” to have iT unes open and sync iP ad automatically whenev er you connect it to your comput er .
Mail Accounts  Y ou can sync email account settings fr om Mail on a Mac, and from M icrosoft Outlook 2003, 2007 , or 20 1 0 or M icrosoft Outlook Express on a PC. Account settings are only transferred fr om your computer to iP ad. Changes you make to an email account on iP ad don’ t a ect the account on your computer .
Photos P ane Y ou can sync photos and videos with iPhoto 6.0.6 or lat er , or Aper ture 3.0.2 or later on a Mac; or with Adobe Photoshop Elemen ts 8.0 or later on a PC. Y ou can also sync photos and videos in any f older on your computer that c ontains images or videos.
Joining a Cellular Da ta Network Before you can join a c ellular data network on iP ad Wi-Fi + 3G, you must sign up for a cellular data plan with an iP ad ser vice carrier in your area. With some carriers, you can choose a data plan, track your data usage, and change or cancel your plan on iP ad.
Adding Mail, C ontacts, and Calendar A ccounts iP ad works with MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, and many of the most popular Internet-based email, contacts, and calendar ser vice providers. If you don ’t already hav e an email account, you can get a free account online a t www .
Y ou can try out these features with a 60-da y free trial at www .apple.com/mobileme . Ser vices you turn on are synced a utomatically ov er the air without having to connect iP ad to your computer .
Disconnecting iPad from Y our Comput er Unless iP ad is syncing with your computer , you can disconnect it at any time. When iP ad is syncing with your computer , the i P ad Home screen shows “Sync in progress.” If you disconnect iP ad before it nishes syncing , some data might not transfer .
Charge the batt er y: The best way to charge the iP ad battery is to connect i P ad to a power outlet using the included Dock Connector to USB C able and 1 0W USB power adapter . When y ou connec t iP ad to a USB 2.0 por t on a Mac with the Dock Connector to USB Cable , i P ad may charge slowly while syncing.
Using and Cleaning iP ad Handle iP ad with care to maintain its appearanc e. If you’ re concerned about scratching or abrasion of the screen, you can use a case or a cover , sold separately . Using iP ad Comfortably It ’ s impor tant to nd a comf or table posture when using iP ad, and to take frequent breaks.
Basics 3 Read this chapter to learn how to use apps on iP ad, and to search, print, share les, and more. Using Apps The high-resolution Multi-T ouch screen and simple nger gestures make it easy to use iP ad apps. Open an app by tapping its icon.
Remove an app fr om the recents list: T ouch and hold the app icon until it begins to jiggle, then tap . The app is added to the recen ts list again the next time you open it. Lock the screen orien tation or use the iP od controls: Double-click the Home button, then ick the bottom of the screen from left to right.
Swipe to scroll quickly . Y ou can wait f or the scrolling to come to a stop , or touch anywhere on the screen t o stop it immediately . T ouching the screen to stop scrolling doesn ’t choose or activate anything on the screen. T o quickly scroll to the top of a list, webpage, or email message , tap the status bar at the top of the screen.
Create addition al Home screens: While arranging icons, drag an icon to the right edge of the screen until a new screen appears . Y ou can return to a previous screen and drag more icons to the new scr een. Y ou can hav e up to 1 1 screens. The dots above the Dock show the number of screens you hav e, and which screen you ’re viewing .
Add an icon to a f older While arranging icons, drag the icon onto the f older . Remove an icon fr om a folder While arranging icons, tap to open the folder , then drag the icon out of the folder . Open a folder T ap the folder . Y ou can then tap an app icon to open that app.
Prin ting a Document AirPrint use s your Wi-Fi network to send print jobs wirele ssly to your printer . iP ad must be connected to the same wireless network as the AirP rint printer . Print a documen t: 1 T ap or (depending on the app you ’re using), then tap Print.
Get the status of a print job: Double-click the Home button, tap the Print Cen ter icon, then select a print job. Cancel a prin t job: Double-click the Home button, tap the Print Center ic on, selec t the print job , then tap C ancel Printing .
Go to Spotlight: On the main page of the Home screen, ick right or press the Home button. On the Spotlight page, you can press the Home button t o return to the main Home screen. Search iP ad: On the Spotlight page, enter text in the Search eld .
3 Select the device and, if prompted , enter the passkey or PIN number . See the instructions about the passkey or PIN that came with the device. Note: Before you pair an A pple W ireless Keyboard , pr ess the power button t o turn the keyboard on. Y ou can pair only one Apple Wireless Keyboard with iP ad at a time.
T ransfer a le from iP ad to your computer: 1 Connect iP ad to your computer . 2 In iT unes, select i P ad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
Securit y F eatures Securit y feature s help protect the information on iP ad from being accessed by others. P asscodes and Data Pr otection F or security , y ou can set up a passcode that you must enter each time y ou tur n on or wake up iP ad. Set a passcode: Choose Settings > General > P asscode Lock > T urn Passcode On.
Safari 4 About Safari Use Safari on iP ad to browse the web and visit y our favorite sit es. Use AirPrint t o print webpages and PDFs. Open multiple pages and add web clips t o the Home screen for quick access. Create bookmarks on iP ad and sync them with your computer .
Opening W ebpages Open a webpage: T ap the address eld (in the title bar) to bring up the onscreen keyboard, type the web address, then tap Go. If the address eld isn ’t visible, tap the status bar at the top of the screen t o quickly scroll up to the address eld.
Naviga ting Webpage s Links on webpages typically take you to a di erent place on the w eb . F ollow a link on a webpage: T ap the link. Links on iP ad can also display a location in Maps or creat e a preaddressed Mail me ssage. T o return to Safari after a link opens another app, double-click the Home butto n and tap Safari.
Entering T ext and Filling Out F orms Some webpages hav e text elds and forms to ll out. Y ou can set Safari to remember names and passwords of w ebsites you visit and ll out t ext elds automatically with information from C ontacts. Bring up the keyboard T ap inside a text eld.
F or tips about searching the Internet, visit www .google.com/help/features .html or help.y ahoo.com/us/y ahoo/search/basics. Find the sea rch word or phrase on the curr ent webpage: At the bottom of the results list, tap the entry below On This P age to nd the rst occurrence of a word or phrase.
W eb Clips Add web clips t o the Home screen for fast access t o your fav orite webpages. Web clips appear as icons on the Home screen, and you can arrange them along with the app icons. See “Rearranging App Icons ” on page 38 . Add a web clip: Open the webpage and tap .
Mail 5 About Mail Read this chapter to learn how to use Mail to read y our email messages and compose new messages. Y ou can view messages fr om all your email accounts at onc e, and Mail displays message threads so it’ s easy to follo w a conversa tion.
Sending Email Y ou can send an email message to an yone who has an email address. Compose and send a message: 1 T ap at the top of the screen. 2 T ype a name or email address in the T o eld, or tap to add a name from your contacts. As you type an email address , matching email addresses from y our contacts list appear .
Checking and Reading Email The Mail icon shows the total number of unread me ssages in all your inbox es. Y ou may have other unr ead messages in other mailbox es. Numberofunread messagesinyour inboxes Check for new message s: Choose a mailbox, tap Inbox, or tap .
Load additional message s: Scroll to the bottom of the list of message s and tap Load More Messages. Read a message: T ap a mailbox, then tap a message.
Zoom in on part of a message Double-tap the area to zoom in. Double-tap again to zoom out. Resize any c olumn of text to t the screen Double-tap the text. Resize a message Pinch to z oom in or out. Follo w a link T ap the link. T ext links are typically under lined and blue.
Open a meeting invitation: T ap the invitation. Y ou can get contact information f or the organizer and other invitees , set an alert, add notes to the ev ent, and add comments that are included in your r esponse emailed to the organizer . Y ou can accept, tentatively accept, or decline the invitation.
Prin ting Messages and A ttachments Y ou can use AirP rint to print email messages , and a ttachments that iP ad can view. Print an email me ssage: T ap , then tap Print.
Camer a 6 About Camera With iP ad, you hav e a great still camera and video camera wherev er you go. iPad has a back camera that takes photos and high-denition video , and a fr ont camera that lets you make F ace Time video calls and tak e photos and videos of yourself .
T ak ing Photos and Recor ding V ideos T aking photos and recording videos with iP ad is as easy as pointing and tapping. Make sure the Camera/Video switch is set to . T ake a photo: Aim i P ad and tap . When you take a photo or start a video recording, iP ad mak es a shutter sound .
Viewing and Sharing Photos and V ideos The photos and videos you take with Camera ar e saved in the Camer a Roll album on iP ad. Y ou can view the Camera Roll album from either Camera or P hotos. View photos and videos in the Camera Roll album: In Camera, tap the thumbnail image in the lower-left corner of the screen.
F ace Time 7 About F ace Time F ace Time lets you make video calls over Wi-Fi. Use the front camera to talk face-to-fac e, or the back camera to share what y ou see around you. T o use F ace Time, you need iP ad 2 and a Wi-Fi connection to the In ternet.
Signing In T o use F ace Time, you need an Apple ID . If y ou have an iT unes Store accoun t, MobileMe account, or other Apple account , you can use that Apple ID with F ace Time. I f you don ’t have an A pple ID , you can cr eate one when you open F ace Time.
Mak ing a F ace Time Call T o make a F ace Time call, open the F ace Time app , then choose someone from your contacts, favorite s, or list of recent calls. Call a con tact: T ap Contacts, choose a name, then tap the email address or phone number they use with F ace Time.
Photo Booth 8 About Photo Booth It ’ s easy to take a photo using Photo Booth. Make your photo more intere sting by applying an e ect when you take it. Photo Booth works with both the front and back cameras. Selec ting an E ec t Before you take a picture , you can selec t an e ect to apply to the picture.
T ak ing a Photo T o take a Photo Booth photo , simply aim iP ad and tap. T ake a photo: Aim i P ad and tap . When you take a photo , iP ad makes a shutter sound. Y ou can use the volume buttons on the side of the iP ad to control the v olume of the shutter sound .
Uploading Photos t o Y our Computer Upload the photos you take with Photo Booth to phot o applications on your computer , such as iPhoto on a Mac. Upload photos to y our computer: Connect iP ad to your computer .
Photos 9 About Photos iP ad lets you carry photos and videos with you so you can enjoy them wherever y ou are. Y ou can easily share them with family and friends, either directly on iPad , or on an HDT V using AirPlay and Apple T V . Y ou can even print photos from iP ad using AirPrint.
Impor ting Photos and Videos from iPhone or a Digital Camera With the iP ad Camera Connection Kit (sold separately), you can import photos and videos directly from a digital camera or iPhone, or from an SD memory card.
View photos: 1 In Photos , tap Photo, Albums, Events , F aces , or Places. T o open a collection, tap it. Or , pinch the collection to spread out a preview of the photos it contains , then let go to open it.
Show or hide the con trols: T ap the photo to sho w the controls. T ap again to hide the controls . View a photo in landscape orientation: Rotate iPad sidewa ys. The photo or video resize s automatically to t the scr een. Zoom in on part of a photo: Double-tap where you want t o zoom in.
Rotate a photo: T ap . T o rotate it more , tap again. View photos or videos on a T V using AirPla y and Apple T V: Make sure iPad is on the same wireless network as Apple T V , then tap and choose Apple T V from the list. When you ick through phot os on iPad , the video on the T V updates as you pa use.
Send multiple photos or videos: T ap an album, then tap . T ap each of the photos or videos you want t o send (a checkmar k appears on each thumbnail), then tap Email. If the Email button is unavailable , select fewer items. Copy a phot o or video: 1 T ap .
Assigning a Photo t o a Con tact Y ou can assign a photo to a c ontact. Assign a photo to a con tac t: 1 Choose a photo on iP ad, then tap . 2 T ap “ Assign to Con tac t,” then cho ose a contact. 3 Drag the photo to pan, and pinch to zoom in or out, until the photo looks the way you want.
Using Picture F rame When iP ad is lock ed, you can displa y an album of photos. This is a great way to enjoy iP ad while charging it in an iP ad D ock. T o change Picture F rame settings, go to Settings > Picture Fr ame, then set any of the following options: The transition you select is play ed between photos.
Videos 10 About Videos Y ou can use iP ad to view movies, music videos, video podcasts, and, if they ’ re av ailable in your area, T V shows. iP ad also suppor ts special feature s such as chapters, subtitles, alternate audio , and closed captioning.
Playing V ideos Play a video: T ap Videos, then tap a category of videos, such as Movies. T ap the video you want t o watch. If the video has chapters, tap a chapter title, or just tap . Display pla yback controls: While a video is playing , tap the scr een to show the controls .
P ause a video T ap or press the cent er button (or equivalent button) on a compatible headset. Resume playback T ap or press the cent er button (or equivalent button) on a compatible headset. Raise or lower the volume Drag the volume slider , or use the iP ad volume buttons or the buttons on a compatible headset.
W atching Rented Mo vies Y ou can rent mo vies in standard or high denition format fr om the iT unes Store and watch them on iP ad. Y ou can download rented movie s on iP ad, or transfer them from iT unes on your computer to iP ad. (Rented movies aren ’t av ailable in all regions.
Y ouT ube 11 F inding and Viewing Videos Y ouT ube features short videos submitted by people from around the w orld. Y ou can watch the la test, most popular videos, search for videos about topics of intere st, ag your favorites , and quickly access videos that you upload t o Y ouT ube from your comput er .
 Playlists: V ideos you add to playlists . Y ou must be signed in to a Y ouT ube account to use this feature .  My Videos: Videos that you’v e upload to Y ouT ube. Y ou must be signed in to a Y ouT ube account to use this f eature.  History : Videos you ’ve viewed most recently .
Con trolling Video Playback Rotate iP ad to landscape orientation to view the video at its maximum size. When a video is playing , the controls disappear so they don ’t obscure the video. Show or hide the video con trols: T ap the screen. Play or pause a video T ap or .
Managing V ideos While watching a full-screen video , tap to display the controller , then tap to see related videos and options f or managing videos. Rate a video or add a comment T ap the video to display the toolbar , then tap Rate and select a rating.
Calendar 12 About Calendar iP ad makes it easy to stay on schedule. Y ou can view calendars individually , or several calendars at once. Y ou can view your even ts by day , w eek, or month, or in a list. Y ou can also search events b y title, invitee , or loca tion.
Adding , Editing , and Deleting Calendar Even ts Y ou can creat e and edit calendar events directly on iP ad. If you have a Microsoft Exchange acc ount with calendars enabled , or a suppor ted CalDA V account, you can invite other people to y our event or meeting .
 List view: All y our appointments and even ts appear in a scrollable list, next to the selected day . T o view a di erent day , tap or or selec t a day from the timeline below the calendar .  Day view: Scroll up or do wn to see the day’ s events.
See events adjust ed for a time zone: In Settings, go to “Mail, C ontacts, Calendars.” Under Calendars, tap Time Zone Suppor t. T urn on Time Zone Suppor t and select a major city for the time zone you want t o use.
Responding to Meeting In vitations If you hav e a Microsoft Exchange account on iP ad with Calendars enabled, a suppor ted CalDA V account, or a MobileM e calendar , you can receive and res p ond to meeting invitations fr om people in your organization.
Impor ting Calendar F iles from Mail Y ou can add even ts to a calendar by importing a calendar le from an email message. Y ou can import any standard .ics calendar le. Import events from a calendar le: In Mail, open the message and tap the calendar le.
C ontacts 13 About Con tac ts iP ad lets you easily access and edit y our contact lists from personal, business, and organizational accoun ts. Y ou can search across all of your groups , and the information in Contacts is automa tically accessed to make addressing emails quick and easy .
Syncing and A dding Con tacts Y ou can add contacts to iP ad in these ways: Enter con tacts on iPad  In iT unes, sync contacts from Google or Y ahoo!, or sync with applica tions on your  computer .
Managing Contacts Y ou can edit your con tacts and mark as favorites the ones y ou use frequently with F ace Time. Add a con tact on iPad: T ap Contacts, then tap . Delete a contact In Contacts, choose a contact, then tap Edit. Scroll down, then tap Delete Contact.
Unied Con tac ts When you sync con tacts with multiple accounts, you might have en tries for the same person in more than one account. T o keep redundant contacts from appearing in the All Contacts.
Note s 14 Writing and Reading Note s With its large displa y and onscreen keyboard, iP ad mak es jotting notes easy . Y ou can view notes in landscape or portrait orientation. In por trait orientation, tap Notes to view a list of y our notes. In landscape orientation, the list of notes appears on the left, and the cur rent note is cir cled in red.
Searching Notes Y ou can search the text of notes t o nd a par ticular note. Search for notes: Enter text in the search eld that appears at the top of the not es list. (In por trait orientation, tap Notes to displa y the notes list.) Search results appear aut omatically as you type.
Maps 15 About Maps Maps provides classic , satellite, hybrid , and terrain views of locations in many countries. Search for a location, then get detailed driving, public transit, or walking direc tions, as well as trac inf ormation.
Searching for L ocations Y ou can search f or locations in many way s—by address , intersection, ar ea, landmar k, bookmark, con tact, or zip code. Find a loca tion and see a map: 1 T ap the search eld to bring up the keyboard . 2 T ype an address or other search information.
F inding Y our Curren t Location A quick tap nds your current location. The onscreen digital compass shows which direction you ’ re facing. Find y our cur rent location: T ap in the status bar at the top of the screen. A blue marker shows your current location.
Marking a Location with a Drop Pin A drop pin lets you mark a location by hand . Drop a pin: T ouch and hold any location on the map. Or , you can drag or tap the lower-right corner of the screen, then tap Drop Pin. A pin drops on the map . T ouch and hold the pin, then drag it to any location y ou choose.
Map V iews Y ou can choose classic, satellite , h ybr id, or terrain view . Y ou can also see a location in street view , when available . Change the view: T ap or drag the bottom-right corner of the screen, then tap Classic, Satellite , Hybrid, or T errain.
Getting Direc tions Y ou can get step-by-st ep driving, public transit, or walking direc tions. Get directions: 1 T ap Directions. 2 T ap the elds at the top of the screen to en ter your star ting and ending locations. Normally , i P ad star ts with your current location (if available).

Buying Apps When you nd an app you w ant in the App Stor e, you can purchase and download it to iP ad. If the app is free, you can download it without charge. Once you download an app , it’ s immediately installed on iP ad. Purchase and do wnload an app: 1 T ap the price, then tap Buy App (or tap F ree, then tap Install App).
Some apps use push notications to alert you of new information, even when the app isn ’t running. Notications vary by app, but may include text or sound alerts, or a number on the app icon on the Home screen. Updating Apps The App Stor e checks for updates t o apps you install.
Deleting Apps Y ou can delete iP ad apps that you’ ve installed from the App St ore. Y ou can ’t delete built-in iP ad apps. When you sync , iTune s automatically backs up an y apps you download to iP ad. If you delete an app on iP ad, you can reinstall it if it was previously synced .
iBooks 19 About iBooks iBooks is a great way t o read and buy books. Download the free iBooks app from the App Store , and then get ev er ything from classics to best sellers from the built-in iBookstore. Once you download a book, it’ s displayed on y our bookshelf .
T o download the iBooks app and use the iBookstore , you need an Internet connection and an Apple account. If you don ’t have an Apple acc ount, or if you want to make purchases using a di erent A pple ID , go to Settings > St ore. Syncing Books and PDFs Y ou can download or purchase fr om the iBookstore.
Reading Books Reading a book is easy . Go to the bookshelf and tap the book you want to r ead. If you don ’t see the book you’ re looking for , tap Collections to view other groups of books. T urn pages: T ap near the right or left margin of a page, or ick left or right.
See all your bookmarks, highlights and notes: T o see the bookmarks, highlights, and notes you ’ve added, tap , then tap Book marks. T o view a note, tap its indicator . Games Purchasing and Downloading Games Games for the Game Cent er are av ailable from the App Store . If you ha ven’ t entered credit card information f or your Apple ID , you’ll be prompted t o enter that inf ormation before y ou can purchase and download games.
Other players may in vite you to pla y the game. Respond to an in vitation to play a game: T ap Acc ept or Decline in the aler t that appears. Y ou can disable multiplay er games in Restrictions.
Achiev ements Some games reward y ou with bonus points for specic achiev ements. See the possible achievements f or a game: T ap Games, choose a game, then tap Achievemen ts. F or each achievement, Game Center sho ws how many bonus points ar e awarded , and whether you ’ve completed the achie vement.
Search for a friend: T ap the status bar to scroll to the top of the screen, then tap the search eld and start t yping. Friends who mat ch your search appear as you type.

Settings 22 About Settings Use Settings to personalize iP ad apps, set the date and time, congure your network connection, and change other iP ad settings. Airplane Mode Airplane Mode disables the wireless f eatures of iP ad to comply with airline regulations.
T ake notes  Read email messages stored on iP ad  Where allowed b y the aircraft operator and applicable laws and r egulations, you can turn Wi-Fi back on, so you can: Send and receive email  Br.
When you try to access the Internet—by using Safari or Mail for example—and y ou aren ’t in range of a Wi-Fi network y ou’v e previously used, this option tells iP ad to look for another network. iP ad displays a list of a vailable Wi-Fi networks that you can choose from.
Every app that uses location services appears on the Location Ser vices settings screen, showing whether location services is turned on or o for that app .
Set whether iPad adjusts the scr een brightness automatically: Choose Brightness , then turn Auto-Brightness on or o . If Auto-Brightness is on, iP ad adjusts the screen brightness for curren t light conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor .

Delete an account from iP ad: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars,” choose an account, then scroll down and tap Delete Acc ount. Deleting an account means you can no longer acce ss the account on iP ad. All email and the contacts, calendar , and book mark information synced with the account are removed fr om iP ad.
Y ou can choose to see up to v e lines of each message. That way , y ou can scan a list of messages in a mailbox and get an idea of wha t each message is about. Set a minimum font siz e for messages: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars ” > M inimum F ont Size , then choose Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large , or G iant.
