2 Open the multipu rpose feeder. 3 Pull the multipur pose feeder extender. Note: Guide the extender gently so that the multipurpose feeder is fully extended and open. 4 Prepare the paper fo r loading. • Flex the sheets of pap er back and forth to loosen them, and then fan them.
• Flex a stack of envelopes back and forth to loosen them, and th en fan them. Straighten the edges o n a level surf ace. Warn ing —Pot ent ial D amag e: Nev er use e nvelopes with stam ps, clas ps, sna ps, windows , coat ed lini ngs, or self ‑ sti ck adhesiv es.
6 Load the paper, and then adjust the width guide to lightly touch the edge of the paper stack. • Load paper, card stock, and transparencies with the recommended printable side facedown and the top edge entering the pri nter first. • Load en velop es with the fl ap sid e up and agains t the right side o f the paper gui de.

Linkin g and un linking tr ays When th e paper size and paper type for any trays are the same, the printer will link those trays. W hen one linked tray become s empt y, paper wi ll feed from the next linked tr ay.

• Do not use pape r that ha s been cut or t rimmed by hand. • Do not mix pa per sizes , types, or weigh ts in the same t ray; mix ing resul ts in ja ms. • Do not use coated papers unless t hey are specifically designed for electrophotogr aphic printing.
