4026-0XX 2-10 P ower -On Self T est (POST) When you turn the printer on, it performs a P o wer-On Self T est. Check f or correct POST functioning by obser ving the f ollowing: 1. All LEDs come on solid. 2. The f an tur ns on f or 2 seconds. 3. All the LEDs turn off.

Replace the brac ket if the arm is damaged or broken.

Check f or +4.5 V dc to +5.5 V dc at CN8-1. If incorrect, replace the engine board. 2 Exit Sensor Be sure the e xit sensor is snapped in place and the cable is firmly connected.
4026-0XX 2-18 Cold Fuser Service Check If all the Cold Fuser Ser vice Chec k items are correct, go to the “Hot Fuser Ser vice Chec k” on page 2-20 Note: T oner buildup on the fuser input guide, paper separator , hot roll and back up roll causes paper jams.

4026-0XX Diagnostic Inf ormation 2-25 Main Drive Motor Service Check FRU Action 1 Main Drive Motor Disconnect CN6 from the engine board. Check the motor f or shor ts between each pin on CN2 and the motor case. If continuity is indicated, replace the motor .
4026-0XX 2-26 5 Motor Noise Check the motor f or proper mounting, tight mounting screws , and gear mesh. If incorrect, repair as necessary . If correct, replace the main drive motor . If the motor continues to make noise after the motor is replaced, replace the engine board.

4026-0XX Diagnostic Inf ormation 2-33 2 Engine Board Disconnect the solenoid/input sensor cable from CN3 on the engine board. Check the v oltage at CN3-5. The voltage should measure appro xi- mately +24 V dc. If incorrect, replace the engine board. If the voltage reads appro ximately +24 V dc, check the v oltage at CN3-6 while running a test page.
4026-0XX 2-34 Parallel P or t Service Check 1. Do a print test to be sure the pr inter prints correctly . 2. Be sure the printer parallel cable is designed f o r bi-directional printing. 3. Be sure the user application is set up correctly . Improper set up can pre v ent establishing a comm unication link with the printer .

4026-0XX Diagnostic Inf ormation 2-41 Offset Print 3 T ransf er Corona Cleaning Clean the corona wire to remov e any toner that has accumulated. Open the top cov er and locate the cleaning tool. Unsnap the cleaning tool from its holder . The corona wire is located directly in front of the transf er unit.
4026-0XX 2-42 Excessive Backgr ound Note: P oor dev elopment or poor ly charged toner par ticles causes e xcessiv e backg round. This is more noticeable as the toner car- tridge nears end of life.

Detection of paper in the printer paper feed path is accomplished b y the low or high status condition of the paper entr y and paper e xit sensors.
