4 TO INSTALL AND REPLACE BATTERIES IN THE TEMPER ATURE TRANSMITTER (INSTALL BATTE RIES IN TRANSMITTER BEFORE INSTALLING BATTERIES IN RADIO-CONTROLLED CLOCK) The transmitter uses 2 x AA,1.5V batteries. To install and replace the batteries, please follow the steps below: 1.
5 SETTING-UP: Alkaline batteries are recomme nded for use in bot h units. Avoid using rechargeable batteries. NOTE: Do not set-up the clock until th e outdoor temperature is displayed. 1. Place batteries in the outdoor transmi tter first, then into the radio- controlled clock.
6 Weekd ay To display the alarm time in normal mode display To exit the setting modes LCD SCREEN DESCRIPTIONS The radio-controlled clock's LCD is divided into 2 sections and once the batteries are inserted, all the segments will ligh t up briefly before di sp laying the i nformation for time, date, indoor and outdoor temperatures.
7 Sun with Clouds —indicates that the weather is ex pected to be fair (no t that the w eather will be sunny with clouds) . Clouds with Rain —indicates that the weather is ex pected to get worse (not that the weather w ill be rainy). The weather icons change w hen the unit detects a cha nge in air pressur e.
8 LCD CONTRAST SETTING After entering the manual setting mode as described abo ve, the LCD contrast can be set w ithin 8 levels, from LCD 0 to LCD7 (Default setting i s LCD 5): 1. The LC D contrast digit w ill start fa shing in LCD2 . (Default setting "5“).
9 TIME RECEPTION SETTING (ON/OFF) In area where reception of the WWVB time is not po ssible, the WWV B time reception fun ction can be turn OFF. T he clock will then work as a normal Quartz clo ck. (D efault setting is ON) . 1. The ON dig it will start flashing on LCD1.
10 2. Set the desired hours by pressing and releasing the + key followed by pressing the SET key. 3. N ow the minute dig its will start flashing. 4. Set the desired minutes by pressing and releasing the + key . If the + key is held, the uni ts will increase by 5.
11 Note: The date can only be set in conjunction w ith the selected month . For example, it is not possible to set the date 30 if the m onth of February is selected . 2. Press a nd release the SET key to exit the setting mode and switch back to th e normal display mode.
12 TO DEACTIV ATE THE ALARM: The alarm will be automati cally ON when the alarm time is se t. To deactivate the alarm (OFF), press and release once the ALM key in normal mode display.
13 Note: When the 433 MHz signal is received correctly, do not re-o pen the battery cover o f either the outdoor temperature transmitter or ra dio-controlled clock, as the batteries may spring free from the contacts and force a false reset.
14 POSITIONING THE R ADIO-CONTROLLED CLOCK: There are two possible w ays to mount the radio-con trolled clock: • use of the foldout table stand, or • wall mounting FOLDOUT TABLE STAND The foldout table stand leg is loca ted on the backsi de.
15 POSITIONING THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE TRANSMITTER The outdoor temperature transmitter can be mounted in two ways: • with the use of screw s, or • using the adhesiv e tape. MOUNTING WITH SCREWS 1) Remove the mounting bracket from the outdoor temperature transmitter .
16 TROUBLESHOOTING: Problem: The LC D is fain t. Solution: 1) Replace the batteries. Problem: No reception of WWVB signal Solution: 1) It may help reception to face the front o f the radio-controlled cl ock in the general direction o f Ft. Collins, Colorado.
17 CARE A ND MA INTENA NCE: • Avoid placing the units in areas prone to vibration and shock as these may cause damage. • Avoid areas where the units can be exposed to sudden changes in temperature, i.e. direct sunlight, extreme cold and w e t/moist conditions as these w ill lead to rapid changes wh ich reduces the accura cy of readings.
