Some applications have a requireme nt to store part of an image in color or grayscale and th e rest of the image in bi-tonal format (this saves stora ge space by not storin g the entire image in color or grayscale).

T wo of the options are iThresholding and Adaptive Thresholding. These options are applied to grayscale scanned imag es and output s a bi-tonal electronic image.

A-61517 October 2004 3-17 The Paper t ab The Paper tab allows you to define valu es relating to image output (i.e., cropping values, rot ation, paper size and units of measure). Camera selection box list s the available sides of an image that you can define individual image pro cessing values.
A-61517 October 2004 3-18 Cropping values Cropping allows you to capture a po rtion of the document being scanned. Y ou can define the cropping area by the x and y of fset values, width and len gth. Cropping options can be used inde pendently with color/grayscale and bi-tona l images and are also front/rear indepe ndent.

A-61517 October 2004 3-20 Automatic Deskew select this option to automatically de skew a document within ±0.3 degrees of the document’ s leading edge. This option is not available when you have Fixed to T ransport cropping selected. Automatic Deske w is always enabled when usin g Aggressive or Relative to Document cropping.
A-61517 October 2004 3-21 Overscan values Overscan allows you to add a spec ified value (inches/mm) before and after the edge of the image. Oversca n values can be applied to the top and bottom of an image and/or the lef t and right of an image. Overscan is used in applications where auto m atic feeding of excessively skewed documents is likely .
A-61517 October 2004 3-22 The Compression t ab The Compression ta b allows you to compress image f iles. Camera Selection box list s the available sides (Front Colo r , Rear Color , etc.) of an image th at you can define individ ual image proces sing values.

A-61517 October 2004 3-24 The Dropout t ab Electronic Color Dropout is used to eliminate a form’ s background so that a document management system may automatically (through OCR and ICR technology) read pertinent dat a without interference from the lines and boxes of the form.

A-61517 October 2004 4-1 4 Using the ISIS Driver Inst allation The ISIS driver is included with the scanner . Y ou can install the d river from the CD. 1. Insert the CD into the drive. 2. Follow the instructions on each screen as prompted. After inst allation of the driver is compl ete, install your application software on the host PC.

Front and Rear croppin g are independent, however , for simultane ous output scanning color/g rayscale and binary croppi ng must be the same per side.
A-61517 October 2004 4-13 This option may be used in conju nction with auto cropping where a separate colo r or binary area to be sa ve d is desired. It is very usefu l in applications where a photograph, signature, embossment or se al appears in a consistent area for an appl ication (you may want that small area in color and the re st in binary).
A-61517 October 2004 4-14 Page layout The Page Layout area allows you to sel ect paper size and viewi ng orientation. The default paper size is set when a scanner is first selected. Y ou can choose a dif ferent paper si ze using the drop-down list box.
