If the pr ojector overheats because of a dirty filter o r another problem, the LED will light up, and the projector lamp will turn of f, after which a 90- second cooling off period occurs.

15 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting to V ideo Equipment Connecting to Video Equipment Using an S-V ideo or a Composite V ideo Cable Using an S-Video or a Composite video cable, a VCR, laser disc player or other video equipment can be connected to INPUT 3 input terminals.

17 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting the Projector to a Computer Connecting to a Computer Connect the projector to the co mputer using the HD 15-pin VGA to VGA cable. • Secure the connectors by tighteni ng the thumbscrews. Note • See page 60 “Computer Compatibility Chart” for a list of computer signals compatible with the projector .
18 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Connecting the Thumbscrew Cables Connect the thumbscrew cable making sure that it fits correctly into the terminal. Then, firmly secure the connectors by tightening the screws on b oth sides of the plug. Do not remove the ferrite core attached to the HD 15-pin VGA cable.
19 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Using the Adjustment Feet The height of the projector can be adjusted using th e adjustme nt feet w hen the s urface the projector is placed on is uneven or when the screen is slanted. The projection of the image can be made higher by adjusting the projector when it is in a location lower than the screen.
20 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Adjusting the Lens Using the Lens Shif t The image is focused and adjus ted to the desired size using the focus ring or zoom ring on the projector . 1 Zoom is adjusted by rot ating the zoom ring. 2 Focus is adjusted by moving the focus ring.
21 CONNECTIONS AND SETUP Setting up the Screen Position the projector perpendicular to the screen with all feet flat and le vel to achieve an optimal image. St andard Setup (Front Projection) Place the projector at the re qui red distance from the screen according to the desired picture size.

Info • The language preset at the factory is English. If you want to change the on- screen display to another language, reset the language according to the procedure on page 28 .

30 Basic Operation Using the Menu Screen This projector has one s et of menu screens that allow you to adjust the image and various projector se ttings. 31 Basic Operation Adjusting the Picture Y ou can adjust the pr ojector's picture to your preferences with the following picture settings. Adjusting Image Pr eferences Use this option to adjust the overall brightness of the im age. Use this control in conjunction with contrast to fine-tune the display .
32 Basic Operation Use this option to adjust the tint of your i mage. Press X to make the image more green. Press W to make the image more purple. Use this option to adjust the clarity and focus of the image. Use this option to adjust the gamma correction of th e image.
33 Basic Operation This control compensates for incoming elevated black levels present in certain video signals. F or some types of video, you may want to override th e setting. Set it to 0 IRE if blacks app ear elevated (dark gray). If blacks appear “crushed” (too dark), set it to 7.
34 Basic Operation Select this menu to access Dynamic Black, Brill iant Color and Detail Enhancement functions. Advance Dynamic Black: This function utilizes the contrast of colors to enable black colors to appear blacker on screen whi le significantly enhancing the performance of black scene s.

37 Easy to Use Functions Selecting the Picture Display Mode This function allows you to mo dify or customize the picture dis play mode to enhance the input image. Depending on the input signal, you can choose “Anamorphic”, “S t andard”, “LetterBox”, or “V irtual Wide”.

Easy to Use Functions 40 This function enables you to remove some edges of the image. Select “Overscan T ype” from the “Layout” menu on the menu screen. 41 Easy to Use Functions H-V Position Function This function enables you to center the display vertically a nd horizont ally . 1 Press “ W ” or “ X ” of the Horizont al Position, the display will move to the left or the right. 2 Press “ W ” or “ X ” of the V ertical Position, the display will move upward or dow nward.
Easy to Use Functions 42 H-V Keystone Function Correcting T rapezoidal Distortion and Adjusting V ertical Size of the picture. This function allows for Keystone correction. Note • When the image is proj ec ted either from top or from bottom toward the screen at an angle, the image becomes distorted trapezoidally .
43 Easy to Use Functions Selecting the Economy Mode These functions allow you to reduce t he power consumption of the projector . Setting the P ow er Sav e Select “ON” from the “Economy Mode” under the “Options” menu on the menu screen. For operating the me nu screen, see pag e 3 0 .
Easy to Use Functions 44 Sync Threshold Automatic Power OFF Function This function is only avail able on Component input. The projector is co mpatible with EDTV(480p and 576p) and H DTV(720p,1080i and 1080p) video signals.
45 Easy to Use Functions Source Select OSD T ime Out Used to select the input source automatically when there is no si gnal in the current in put. Select “source se lect” from the “Options” menu on the menu screen. For operating the menu screen, see p age 30.
Easy to Use Functions 46 This function allows yo u to determine the type o f incoming video content -film. Different algorithms are applied for each of the content types. When this function is enabled, t he OSD is transparently displayed on the screen to blend with the image.
47 Easy to Use Functions This function allows you to set the L TI and CTI level. Select “STI” from the “Options” menu on the menu screen. For operating the me nu screen, see pag e 3 0 . STI Selected Item Description LT I (Luminance T ransient Image) Adjusts the L TI level t o enhance luminance, filter fuzzy edges and remove smear .
Easy to Use Functions 48 Noise Reduction This function is only avail able for SDTV (480i/576i) and EDTV (480p/576 p) signals. Noise Reduction is useful for clearing up noisy images. Turn it On to keep in mind that reducing noise (which reduces high frequencies) may also “soften” the image.
49 Easy to Use Functions Reset Select this option to set all items in the “Options” menu to the factory default values except PRJ Mode and Lamp Reset. Reversing/Inverting Projected Images This projector is equi pped with a reverse/invert ima ge function that allows you to reverse or invert the projected image for va rious applications.
Easy to Use Functions 50 Lamp T imer Reset Lamp T imer Reset is used to re set the lamp counter . Y ou should reset the T imer after you install a new lamp. The cumulative lamp usage time is shown in the St atus Screen. Stat u s The S tatus screen displays information about the current input signal, La mp T ime r , and Firmware Information.
51 Easy to Use Functions In the Main menu, press the S or T button to select Input Source, and press the Enter button to confirm. This process will set a ll the items to Factory default settings except PRJ Mode and Lamp Reset. Note • If you select “Auto” as the Input source, then the correct input sou rce is automatically selected.

53 Appendix Maintenance Cleaning th e projector Unplug the power cord before clean ing the projector . Avoid using benzene or thinner , as these can da mage the finish on the cabinet and operation panel. Do not use volatile agents such as insecticides on the projector .
Appendix 54 Cleaning the V entilative Holes • This projector is equipped with ventilative holes to ensure the optima l operating condition of the projector . • Periodically clean the ventilative ho le by vacuuming it off with a va cuum cleaner . • The ventilative hol es should be cleaned every 100 hours of use.
55 Appendix About the Lamp The projector lamp has a life of 2000 hours. Maintain proper ventilation to keep the lamp operating throughout it s lifetime.
Appendix 56 T emper a ture LED (Over T emperatur e) The over temperature alarm LED on the co ntrol panel al erts you when the projector la mp becomes too hot or the peripheral is sultry . If the LED illu minates during operation, the lamp will s hut off and the cooling fans will continue to run for approximately 1.
57 Appendix Removing and Inst alling the Lamp Unit Follow these instructions to replace the lamp. • Be sure to remove the lamp unit by the handle. Be sure not to touch the glass su rface of the lamp unit or the inside of th e projector . • T o a void injuring yourself and da mage to the lamp, be sure to carefully follow th e steps below .
