In the e vent of an electrical short circuit , grounding r educes the risk of ele ctric shock by pr oviding an escape wir e for the electric current . The micr ow ave o ven is equipped with a cord having a gr ounding wire with a grounding plug.
7 Micro wav e ov ens are safe. Micr ow ave ener gy is not hot . It causes food to mak e its o wn heat , and it is this heat that cooks the food. Micro wav es are lik e TV wav es, r adio wav es, or light w aves. Y ou cannot see them, but you can see the r esults of what they do .

10 GETTING TO KNO W Y OUR MICRO W A VE O VEN Y our microw ave o ven contr ol panel lets you select the desir e d cooking function quickly and easily . All you hav e to do is touch the necessar y Command P ad. The follo wing is a list of all the C ommand and Number P ads located on the control panel.
11 1. Display: T he display includes a clock and indicators that sho w the time of day , cooking time settings , cook pow ers, quantities , weights and cooking functions selected. 2. P opcorn: T ouch this pad to pop one of two bag sizes of popcorn without entering a cook time or pow er .
12 Amount of Food • If y ou increase or de crease the amount of food you pr epare , the time it tak es to cook that food will also change. For ex ample, if y ou double a recipe , add a little more than half the original cooking time. Check for readiness and, if necessar y , add more time in small incr ements.
13 • Place the container in a glass bowl and add some w ater so that it cov ers the bottom of the container; no more than 1⁄4 in. (.64 cm) high. T his ensures e ven heating of the container bottom. • Always r emov e the lid to avoid damage to the o ven.

15 VENT F AN TURNT ABLE ON/OFF KITCHEN TIMER The pad on the bottom left of the contr ol panel controls the 2-speed v ent fan. Example: T o set the v ent fan spe ed. T ouch: D i sp la y Sh o w s : For best cooking r esults, leav e the turntable on. It can be turned o for large dishes.
16 ADD 30 SEC. TIMED COOKING This is a time-saving pad. It is a simplied contr ol that lets y ou quickly set and start micr o wav e cooking at 100% po wer without the need to touch ST ART . Example: T o cook for one minute. T ouch: D i sp la y Sh o w s : NOTE: Each time y ou touch ADD 30 SEC, it will add 30 seconds up to 99 min 59 seconds.
17 MICRO W A VE POWER LEVELS For best r esults , some recipes call for dier ent cook pow ers. The lo wer the cook po wer , the slow er the cooking. Each number fr om 1 to 9 stands for a dierent per centage of full cook pow er .
18 A UTO DEFROST Thr ee defrost sequences are pr eset in the ov en. The auto defr ost feature pr ovides y ou with the best defr osting method for fr ozen foods. The cooking guide will show y ou which defrost sequence is recommended for the food y ou ar e defr osting.
