2 Introduction 7 Important cautions Installation of the system • Select a place which is le vel, dry and neither too hot nor too cold; between 5°C and 35°C. • Leave suff icient distance between the system and the TV . • Do not use the system in a place subject to vibration.
3 About discs and memor y cards This system has been designed to play back the following discs: D VD VIDEO, DVD A UDIO, V ideo CD (VCD), Super V ideo CD (SVCD), Audio CD (CD), CD-R and CD-R W . • This syste m accommodates the NTSC and P AL s ystem. When you play an NTSC disc with the scan mode set to “P AL” ( A pg.
About discs and memory cards 4 • The system recognizes up to 150 tracks (f iles) per group, 99 groups per disc, and the total number of the tracks (f iles) that the system can play is 1000.

Description of parts and controls 7 Remote control Putting batteries in the remote control If the range or effecti veness of the remote control decreases, replace both batteries. CAUTION • Do not expose batteries to heat or flame. Operating the system from the remote control Aim the remote control directly to the front panel of the center unit.
8 Connections 7 AM loop antenna Setting up sup plied AM loop antenn a Connecting AM l oop antenna • T urn the loop antenna until you hav e the best reception during AM broadcast program reception. NOTE • Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch any other terminals, connecting cords and power cords.

Connections 10 CAUTION • W hen you connect spea kers other than the supplied ones, use speakers of the same speaker impedance (SPEAKER IMPED ANCE) indicated near the speaker terminals on the rear of the po wered subwoofer . • DO NOT connect more than one speaker to one speaker terminal.

Connections 12 NOTE • Although the satellite speakers and the powered subwoofer are magnetically shielded, the TV screen may appear mottled. In this case, keep enough distanc e between the speakers and the TV. • The speakers are magnetically shielded to avoid color distortions on TVs.
Connections 13 Y ou can enjoy the sound of an analog component. NOTE • T he signals input to the VIDEO VCR IN jack will be output only from the VIDEO OUT jack, not from the S-VIDEO OUT jack.

Basic operations 18 The system turns of f automatically when the specified period of time has passed. Press SLEEP. Each time you press the button, the shut-of f time changes. Example: To check the remaining time Press SLEEP once. To change the remaining time Press SLEEP r epeatedly .

Advanced operations 25 7 All Channel Stereo (DSP) All Channel Stereo (ALL CH ST .) mode can reproduce a larger stereo sound fi eld using all the connected (and activ ated) speakers. All Channel Stereo can be used while reproducing 2 channel stereo source.

T uner operations 40 Once a station is assigned to a channel number , the station can be quickly tuned in. Y ou can preset 30 FM and 15 AM stations. 7 To preset the stations 1 Tune in the station you want to preset. • If you want to store the FM reception mode for an FM station, select the reception mode you want.
41 A V COMPU LINK remote control system The A V COMPU LINK remote control system allo ws you to operate JVC TVs and VCRs through the center unit. This system is equipped with the A V COMPU LINK-III, which adds a function to operate JVC ’ s video components via the video components terminals.
