13 English 3 Adjust the volume To increase the volume, turn MASTER V OLUME control c lockwise (or press V OLUME + on the remote control). To decrease the v olume, turn MASTER V OLUME control counter clockwise (or press V OLUME – on the remote control).
14 English Adjusting the subwoofer audio position If the subwoof er sound is much reinforced f or stereo sound compared to the sound reproduced with multi-channel, set the subwoof er audio position. The subwoofer output le vel is automatically decreased by the selected v alue when you are listening in stereo .
15 English Tu rning off the sounds temporarily From the remote control ONL Y : Press MUTING to turn off the sound through all connected speakers and headphones. “MUTING” appears on the display and the v olume tur ns off. To restore the sound, press MUTING again.

31 English 7 Making the center tone soft or sharp —CENTER TONE This setting is av ailable when one of the Surround/DSP modes is in use. T o activate Surround/DSP mode , see page 39. • This setting is common to all Surround modes, and is memorized separately f or DSP modes.
32 English T uner operations When operating the receiver using the remote control, set the mode selector to “AUDIO/TV/ VCR/DBS. ” T uning in to stations manually From the remote control ONL Y : 1 Press FM/AM to select the band. The last received station of the selected band is tuned in.

35 English ■ Dolby Surround Dolby Pro Logic II Dolby Pr o Logic II is a m ulti-channel playbac k format to conv er t 2-channel software into 5-channel (plus subwoof er). The matr ix- based conv ersion method used for Dolby Pro Logic II mak es no limitation for the cutoff frequency of the surround treb le and enables stereo surround sound.
36 English DTS 96/24 In recent years , there has been increasing interest in higher sampling rates both f or recording and for reproducing at home. Higher sampling rates allow wider frequency r ange and greater bit depths provide e xtended dynamic range.
37 English Introducing the DSP modes The sound heard in a concer t hall, club , etc. consists of direct sound and indirect sound—early reflections and reflections from behind. Direct sounds reach the listener directly without any reflection. On the other hand, indirect sounds are delay ed by the distances of the ceiling and walls.
38 English Virtual Surround Back This function creates the great surround eff ect from the behind as if you hav e connected the surround back speaker .

47 English Tr oubleshooting PROBLEM The pow er does not come on. The receiver turns off (enters standby mode). “O VER HEA T” flashes on the display , then the receiver turns off . No sound from speakers . Sound from one speaker only . Bass sound is reinf orced too much when listening in stereo .
