5 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in step 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to pr ess this button to turn on the power . 2 Select the source.
6 ENGLISH Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds. “ CLOCK H, ” “ CLOCK M, ” “ LEVEL, ” or “ TEL ” appears on the display . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “ CLOCK H ” (hour) if not shown on the display . 2 Adjust the hour .
7 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Each time you press the button, the band changes as follo ws: Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
8 ENGLISH T o tune in to stations of lower frequencies T o tune in to stations of higher frequencies Storing stations in memory Y ou can use one of the f ollowing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memor y .
9 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3, and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) you want to store stations into (in this example, FM1).
10 ENGLISH Playing a CD Insert a CD into the loading slot. The unit turns on, draws the CD and star ts playbac k automatically . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When a CD is alr eady in the loading slot, pressing CD turns on the unit and starts playback automatically .
11 ENGLISH Locating a track or a particular portion on a CD T o fast-forward or reverse the track T o go to the next or previous tracks T o go to a particular track directly Press the number button corresponding to the track n umber to star t its playback.
12 ENGLISH Selecting CD playback modes T o play back tracks at random (Disc Random Play) Y ou can play bac k all tracks on the CD at random. 1 Press M (MODE) to enter the functions mode while playing a CD . 2 Press RND (random), while still in the functions mode, so that “DISC RND” appears on the display .
13 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Selecting preset sound modes (C-EQ: custom equalizer) Y ou can select a preset sound mode (C-EQ: custom equalizer) suitab le to the music genre. Select the sound mode you want. When you press the b utton once, the last selected sound mode is recalled and applied to the current source.
14 ENGLISH 2 Adjust the setting. 3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to adjust the other items. T o reset each sound mode to the factory settings, repeat the same procedure and reassign the preset values listed in the tab le on page 13.
15 ENGLISH OTHER MAIN FUNCTIONS Selecting the level display Y ou can select the le vel displa y according to your preference . When shipped from the factory , “A UDIO 2” is selected. 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds. “CLOCK H, ” “CLOCK M, ” “LEVEL, ” or “TEL ” appears on the display .
16 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to tur n off the pow er.
17 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the follo wing points before calling a service center . Remedies Adjust it to the optimum le vel. Check the cords and connections. While holding SEL (select), press (standby/on/ attenuator) f or more than 2 seconds to reset the unit.
18 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE Center holder Handling discs This unit has been designed to reproduce CDs, CD-Rs (Recordable), and CD-R Ws (Rewritable). • This unit is not compatible with MP3 discs. How to handle discs When removing a disc from its case, press down the center holder of the case and lift the disc out, holding it by the edges.
