10 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band 1 Select the band (FM1). 1 Press SOURCE to select the tuner as the source.

13 ENGLISH Playing a CD T ext In a CD T ext, some inf or mation about the disc (its disc title, perf or mer and trac k title) is recorded. Y ou can show these disc inf or mation on the displa y .
14 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference . 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as follo ws: Indication T o do: Range BASS Adjust the bass.
15 ENGLISH Using the sound control memory Y ou can select and store a preset sound adjustment suitable f or each playbac k source. (Advanced SCM) Selecting and storing the sound modes Once you select a sound mode , it is stored in memory . It will be recalled e ver y time you select the same source and will be shown on the displa y .
16 ENGLISH Recalling the sound modes When “SCM LINK” is set to “SCM LINK ON,” select the source. The sound mode stored in memory for the selected source is recalled. Notes: • Y ou can adjust each sound mode to your pr eference, and stor e it in memory .

19 ENGLISH T o cancel Advanced SCM — SCM LINK Y ou can cancel the Advanced SCM (Sound Control Memor y), and unlink the sound modes and the playbac k sources When shipped from the factory , a diff erent sound mode can be stored in memory for each source so that you can change the sound modes simply by changing the sources.
20 ENGLISH T o select the scroll mode — SCROLL MODE Y ou can select the scroll mode f or the disc inf ormation if it consists of more than 12 characters. When shipped from the f actor y , Auto Scroll mode is set to “SCR OLL ONCE. ” • SCROLL ONCE: Scrolls only once.
21 ENGLISH T o make the front panel look flat (hiding the control panel) — FLA T PANEL When operating the receiv er using the remote control, you can hide the control panel to mak e the front panel look flat. When shipped from the factory , “FLA T OFF” is selected.
22 ENGLISH 4 Press SEL (select) to finish the setting. When this function is turned on (the CRUISE indicator lights up on the display), the proper volume level is automatically selected among the 3 possible levels according to the driving speed, and the selected lev el is shown on the displa y .

25 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS W e recommend that you use one of the CH-X series with your unit. If you ha ve another CD automatic changer , consult your JVC IN-CAR ENTER T AINMENT dealer for connections. • F or e xample , if your CD automatic changer is one of the KD-MK series, you need a cor d (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.
26 ENGLISH T o go to a particular disc directly Press the number b utton corresponding to the disc number to start its playback (while the CD changer is playing). • T o select a disc number from 1 – 6: Press 1 (7) – 6 (12) briefly . • T o select a disc number from 7 – 12: Press and hold 1 (7) – 6 (12) for more than 1 second.
27 ENGLISH T o play back tracks repeatedly (Repeat Play) 1 Press MODE while playing a CD . “MODE” appears on the display . 2 Press RPT (repeat), while “MODE” is still on the displa y , so that the RPT indicator lights up on the displa y .
28 ENGLISH EXTERNAL COMPONENT OPERA TIONS Playing an external component When connecting an external component to the LINE IN plugs on the rear , you can select the component as the sound source. 1 Select the external component. Each time you press the button, the source changes as described on page 7.
29 ENGLISH What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious . Check the f ollowing points bef ore calling a ser vice centre. Remedies Insert the CD correctly . Stop CD pla y while driving on rough roads. Change the CD . Check the cords and connections.
30 ENGLISH MAINTENANCE COMPACT DIGITAL AUDIO CAUTIONS: • Do not insert 8cm (3 3/16") CDs (single CDs) into the loading slot. (Such CDs cannot be ejected.) • Do not insert any CD of unusual shape – like a heart or flower; otherwise, it will cause a malfunction.
