10 Quic k Setup Getting Star ted These quick setup pages will pro vide you, in three easy steps, with the basic inf or mation you need to begin using your ne w television right awa y . If you ha ve questions, or f or more detailed information on any of these steps, please consult other sections of this manual.
11 Quic k Setup Connections Please follo w the flow char t below to determine which connection setup is right for you. Then, refer to the appropriate diagr ams to connect your television to other de vices that you ma y have . After you are finished connecting y our devices, plug the po wer cord into the nearest power outlet and turn on the TV .
12 Notes: • If y our VCR is a mono sound unit, it will hav e only one audio out jack. Connect it to the TV’ s LEFT A UDIO INPUT . • Use the S-Video connection if possible for superior picture quality . • Y our VCR m ust be tur ned on to view premium cable channels .
Notes: • Green, blue and red are the most common colors for D VD cables. Some models ma y vary colors. Please consult the user’ s manual f or your D VD play er for more inf or mation. • Be careful not to confuse the red D VD cab le with the red audio cable.
1) Connect a yellow composite cable from the camcorder VIDEO OUT , into the VIDEO IN on the front of the TV . 2) Connect a white composite cable from the camcorder LEFT A UDIO OUT , into the LEFT A UDIO IN on the front of the TV .
When you turn your tele vision on for the first time the interactiv e plug-in menu will appear . The plug-in menu helps you to get y our TV ready to use by letting you set y our preferences f or : • The language in which you want the onscreen men us to appear.

17 In auto tuner setup , the TV automatically scans through all av ailable channels, memorizing the active ones and skipping o ver blank ones or channels with w eak signals. This means when you scan (using the C HANNEL +/– buttons) you will receiv e only clear, activ e channels.
T o bring up the onscreen menu , press the M EN U button on the remote control. The item that appears in yello w is the one currently selected. If you press the M ENU button again, the onscreen display will skip to the ne xt menu screen.

U.S. P ARENT AL RA TING SYSTEMS Programs with the f ollowing ratings are appropriate f or children. ❒ TV Y is Appropriate for All Children Programs are created f or very young view ers and should be suitable for all ages , including children ages 2 - 6.
24 Line up the cursor in the column (TV PG, TV G, etc.) with the content row (V/FV , S, etc.) and press the π or † to mov e the cursor to the correct location. Press √ or ® to turn the locking feature on or off . An item is lock ed if the icon appears instead of a “—”.
Initial Setup ❒ NR – Not Rated This is a film which has no rating. In many cases these films w ere impor ted from countr ies which do not use the MP AA r atings system. Other NR films ma y be from amateur producers who didn’t intend to hav e their film widely released.

Channel guard and V -Chip settings are protected by a f our-digit lock code . Y our TV comes preset with a lock code of “0000”. Y ou ma y change the code to any four-digit number y ou wish.

MTS technology allo ws sev eral audio signals to be broadcast at once, giving you a choice in what you wish to hear with a TV program. In addition to mono or stereo sound, an MTS broadcast ma y also include a second audio program (SAP) .
Cloc k/Timer s 34 Set Clock The set clock function is described on page 16 as the interactiv e plug-in menu. (A V -27CF35 and A V -32CF35 ONL Y). Y ou can choose to set the clock automatically , or manually . If y ou need to set the clock again, f ollow the steps below .
The on/off timer lets you progr am your television to turn itself on or off . Y ou can use it as an alarm to wake up , to help you remember impor tant programs , or as a decoy when you’ re not home.
Cloc k/Timer s 36 W orld Clock The world clock f eature provides time differences f or some of the major cities around the world in real time. Press the M ENU b utton π † T o WORLD CLOCK √ ® T o.
T urns the TV on or off . Press the P OWER button P ower Use the number buttons on the remote control to mo ve directly to a specific channel. F or example , to move to channel 7: 0 (Zero) 7 (Sev en) Number Buttons - 10Ke y Pad Use the 100+ button to directly access channels abo ve channel 99.
