2 Safety precautions WARNING • T o prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the TV to rain or moisture. CAUTION • Operate only fr om the power sour ce indicated on the rear of the TV . • A void damaging the po wer cord and mains plug. When y ou unplug the TV , pull it out by the mains plug.
3 Pr eparation 1 Confirm which remote control you have Y our TV comes with one of the two r emote controls shown below . Functions you can operate differ depending on the type of r emote control.
4 Prepar ation 3 Connecting the aerial and external devices • F or further details, refer to the manuals pr ovided with the devices y ou are connecting. • Connecting cables are not supplied. • The front and r ear AUDIO/VIDEO input jacks ar e directly connected so that input to either jack is output through both.
5 Prepar ation ■ Connecting other external devices • Use the headphones with a stereo mini jack (3.5 mm in diameter). When you connect the headphones, the TV speakers go of f.
6 Prepar ation 4 Connecting the power cord Connect the pow er cord to the A C outlet. Operate only fr om the power sour ce indicated on the rear of the TV . 5 SETUP TOUR When the TV is first turned on it enter s the SETUP T OUR mode, and the JVC logo is display ed.

8 Remote contr ol buttons and functions ECO SENSOR button <A V -14AMG3 does not have this function> Y ou can adjust this TV so that the screen automatically adjusts to the optimum contrast accor ding to the brightness of your r oom. This function reduces ey e strain and the po wer consumption of this TV .
9 Remote control buttons and functions DISPLA Y button Y ou can continuously display the curr ent channel number or VIDEO mode on the screen. Press this button.
10 Changes the A UT O SHUT OFF setting. MENU number The icon on the left indicates the currently selected function. Using the TV’ s menus This TV has a number of functions you can oper ate using the menus. T o use all your TV ’ s functions fully , you need to under stand how to use the menus.
11 Using the TV ’ s menus When the time set for the ON TIMER function is reached: The TV automatically turns on and the channel set for the ON TIMER function is display ed. • F or safety reasons the TV will automatically turn off if no operations ar e made within appro ximately two hours after the TV is turned on with the ON TIMER function.
12 Using the TV ’ s menus AUTO SHUTOFF Y ou can set your TV to turn off if no signals are r eceived for about 15 minutes or longer after the end of a broadcast.
13 Using the TV ’ s menus AI ECO DISPLA Y <A V -14AMG3 does not have this function> Y ou can display on the scr een the effect of the AI ECO SENSOR function. 1 Press MENU T to display the “ MENU 2 ” menu, then select “ AI ECO DISPLA Y ” .
14 Using the TV ’ s menus MANUAL CH PRESET Y ou can manually preset desir ed TV channels to desired channels . 1 Press MENU T to display the “ MENU 3 ” menu, then select “ MANUAL CH PRESET ” . 15 Using the TV ’ s menus SKIP Y ou can set undesired channels to be skipped. Channels set to be skipped cannot be selected by the CHANNEL m buttons nor the CHANNEL SC AN button. • Channels to which TV channels hav e not been preset ar e automatically set to be skipped.

17 Basic operation • Check to make sur e the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ OFF ” . When the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ ON ” , the TV cannot be operated using the fr ont control buttons. F or details, see “ CHILD LOCK ” on page 12.
18 T roubleshooting If there is no pictur e or the TV does not operate normally , make sur e the problem isn ’ t due to the reasons indicated belo w . If the problem per sists even after taking the measur es indicated, please contact a service technician.
