4 Import ant Safeguards These safeguards apply for mac hines with UL safety test (see rating plat e and Chapter 15, ‘T echnical data and guide values’).

11 Important information Be careful to ensure that the appropriate nozzle is installed and clean. The nozzle or parts of the nozzle might come off if the part s are not assembled correctly or a blockage occurs. A defective machine is not safe and could cause injury or fire.

It allo ws precise adaptation to different cup heights and diameters. This prevents coffee splashing and guarant ees a fantastic crema of ideal consistency.

19 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time T o enjoy perfect coffee, w e recommend that you c hange the wat er ever y day. Only use fresh, cold wat er to refill the wat er tank and never milk, mineral w ater or other liquids. Open the cov er of the water tank.
20 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time If the machine is oper ated with a defective pow er cable, there is a danger of electric shock. Never use a mac hine which has a defective pow er cable . Precondition : The w ater tank must be full.
21 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time Place a receptacle under the coff ee spout. h l Press the maintenance button. The machine will rinse itself, stopping automatically . READY appears on the display . Y our IMPRESSA is ready to use.
22 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time m l Press the Rotary Switch to confirm this setting. OK appears briefly on the display to confirm the setting. INSERT , the maintenance button h lights up. Remo ve the CLARIS plus filter cartridge and the filter car - tridge extension from the W elcome P ack.
23 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time The wat er hardness can be adjusted between 1° dH and 30° dH. This can also be deactivated, which means that the IMPRESSA w on’t let y ou know when it has to be descaled. Y ou can find out what the water hardness is b y using the Aquadur® test strips enclo sed in the W elcome P ack.
24 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time Y ou can adjust the grinder to suit the roast of your coff ee. Our recommendations: Select a fine setting for a light roast. Select a coarse setting for a darker roast. If you adjust the fineness of grind when the grinder is not oper ating, the fineness of grind switch could be damaged.
25 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time When the IMPRESSA is swit ched on, a prompt to perform a rinse operation aut omatically appears. Precondition : Y o ur IMPRESS A is switched on at the pow er switch and the On/Off button g is illuminated (standby).
26 3 F amiliarising yourself with the control options With the IMPRESSA, you can prep are an exc ellent coffee speciality at the touch of a button. Y ou also have the option of adjusting the coffee strength and temper ature, as well as the amount of w ater to your personal taste.
27 3 F amiliarising yourself with the control options a l Press the 1 Espresso button. 1 ESPRESSO appears on the display . Af ter this, the coffee strength is briefly display ed. The pre-set amount of water flow s into the cup and the process stops automatically .

55 8 Maintenance T urn the selection lever of the nozzle to the STEAM position k . h l Press the maintenance button. FILTER RINSING - W ater will flow out at the no zzle. Y ou can interrupt the filter rinsing at any time . T o do this, press any button.
56 8 Maintenance After 200 coffee prepar ations or 80 switch-on rinses, the IMPRESSA will prompt you to c lean it. If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine could be damaged and/or trac es of detergent could be left behind in the water . Use only original JURA care product s.
57 8 Maintenance The cleaning oper ation is now complete . The IMPRESSA is ready for use again. Y ou can initiate the ‘Cleaning the machine ’ operation manually . Precondition : READY appears on the display . M l K eep the Rotary Switch pressed until RINSE appears.
58 8 Maintenance The descaling programme lasts approx. 40 minutes. JURA descaling tablet s are available fr om your stockist. If you use a CLARIS plus filter cartridge and this is activated, you will not be prompted t o change the filter . Y ou can also tr y out the ‘Descale machine’ oper ation online.
59 8 Maintenance Put the wat er tank back in. PRESS RINSE - The maintenance button h lights up. Place a container under the Connector System © . h l Press the maintenance button. This causes wat er to flow out of the Connector System © . The operation st ops automatically - EMPTY TRAY .
60 8 Maintenance Remo ve the milk pipe from the milk carton/bottle or the milk container . Fill the receptacle with 250 ml of fresh wat er and immerse the milk pipe in it. Place a receptacle under the Professional Cappuccino F rother . T urn the selection lever to the milk or milk foam position.

63 8 Maintenance Loosen the screw in the beam c ontainer and lif t up the finger protection. Remo ve the remaining beans with a vac uum cleaner . Clean the bean container with a soft , dry cloth. Put the finger protection down again and screw it back tightly in place.

66 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Water f or perfec t coffee Y ou can see it at work on your household applianc es every day . Lef t to its own devices, scale can cause serious damage . Over time, scale is deposited on the heating elements, clogging the heating ele- ments and pipes.

This system ensures that the filter is used to optimum effect. The remaining wat er in the tank is lef t untouched until the next cup of coffee is made .
