Built-in mu ltimedia feat ures include audio, a palette of 16 .7 million colors and acti ve matrix liquid cryst al dis- play (LCD) t echnology .

5 SETTING UP THE PR OJECTOR 1 Place the pr o jector on a flat s urface. • The pr ojector must be within 10 feet (3 m) o f your power source a nd within 8 feet (2.4 m) o f your computer . NO TE : An optional extension cable, sold separ ately, lets you increase the di stance betw een the projecto r and your computer to 68 fee t (21 m).

7 Pr eparing to Connect Y our Equipment to t he Projector NO TE : Bef o re you continue, mak e sure the projector and your equipment are tur ned off. If you’ re connecting a computer , mak e sure the distance betw een it and the pr o jector is 10 f eet or less .

Ref er to your computer manual for the command that activates the external video port.

NO TE: If you are connecting an older Macintosh computer that does not have a 15-pin connector , you must use Mac adaptor s (o rde re d se pa rat e ly ) .

If y our computer ha s a PS/2 connector , use the PS/2 mouse c able 1 Unplug the mouse cable fr om you r computer . NO TE : A USB mouse is hot-plug- gable , meaning you do not need to re-boot your computer after con- necting the mouse to use it.
12 Setti ng up the Proj ector Conne cting a Co mpute r Usin g a VES A cable The supplied VESA cable con nects to the High Densi ty 15-pin connector (HD 15) on the pr oj ector . This input is designated Computer 2. 1 Locate the cable that co nnects your m onitor to your compu ter .
13 Connec ting a Video Pla y er 1 If your video player uses a round, one-pr ong composit e video connector, you’ll need only th e A/V cable that shipped with the pr ojector. • If your video pla y er uses a round, four -prong S -video con- nector , you’ll n eed an S-video cable in add ition to the A/V cable.

17 USING THE PROJECTOR This section d escribes how to use and mak e adjustm ents to the pro jector . It also provides a r eferen ce to the keypad and r emote buttons and the opti ons available f rom the on-scr een menus. Basic Imag e Adjustment 1 Make sure you have powered up your equipment in the right or der (page 15).

19 Adjusting the Pr ojector T o focus the im age, r otate the focus ring (Fig ure 1 5 ) until the imag e is cl ear . T o zoom the im age, rotate th e zoom ring .
20 Usin g the Projector T o raise the projector: 1 Pres s and hold the elevator button (Figure 15). 2 Raise the pro j ector to the height you want (Figure 17), then release th e butt on to lock the elevator foot into position. 3 If necessary , use the leveling knob (Figure 16) to adjust the angle of the projected image.

Compute r When yo u have mo re than one sou rce (computer 1 or 2 or vi deo) connected to the pro j ector , select between them by pressing the button for the source you want.
23 Po w e r The po we r button turns the projector on and of f. When you plug the pr o jector in, the fan r un s on low speed and the Power LED lights after the projector has initializ ed. When the Power LED is lit, you can press the pow e r button to turn the lamp on.
24 Usin g the Projector Using the On-Scr een Menus The pr ojector has six drop-down m enus tha t allow you to make imag e adjus tmen ts and ch ange a v arie ty of sett ings. Mo st of the se adjust ment s aren’t avai labl e directly from the keypad or remote.

28 Usin g the Projector Balance The balance setting contr ols the balance between the left and right external speakers. It app ears gray and won’t highlight if you ha ven’t co nnec ted exter nal s peake rs. Bala nce applies to all sources you have connec ted.

39 Replacing the Pr ojection Lamp WA R N I N G : T o avoid burns , allow the p rojector to c o ol for at least 30 minutes before you open the lamp module door . Never extr a ct the lamp module while the lamp is oper ating. The lamp hour counter in the Status menu counts the number of hours the lamp has been in use.

43 Solut ions to Common Pr ob lems Pr oblem: N othing on pr ojectio n scr een • Make sure that the power cord is properly connected to a func- tional AC electrical outlet. Make sure that the power cord is also pr o perly connected to the pr ojector and the gr een Power LED is lit.

Check to see that the CableW izar d computer cable is correctly connected to the monitor connector on the computer (this is the connector where your monitor cable usually go es.
