5 Intr oduction Y our new multimedi a pr ojector provides three computer , three video, and two aud io in puts, one aud io ou tput, RS -23 2 control, and ha s XG A 1024x7 68 resol ution. Optional user -changeable sho rt, fixed short , long and super long thr ow lenses m ake th is a flexible pr oduct suit able for many dif ferent u ses.
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector provides t h ree c omputer and t hree v ideo connection options: • one M1-D (DVI with USB) • one VESA computer • one BNC (RGBH V and Pr , Pb, Y) • one compon.
7 P ositioning the pr ojector T o determine where to position the projector , consider the siz e and shape of your scr een, the location of your pow er outlets, and the dist ance between the proj ect or and t he r est of your equipment.
8 Connecting a computer Required compute r connection s Connect one end of the VESA computer cable to the Com put er 2 con nector on the pr ojector . Connect the other end to the video por t on your comput er . If you are u sing a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the moni- tor cable fr om the computer ’s video por t .
9 If you are u sing a desktop computer a nd want to s ee the image on your computer screen a s well a s on the pr ojection screen, plug the monitor cable to the Monitor out conn ect or on the pr ojector . Y ou can also connect to your c omputer using a BNC cable.
10 Displa yi ng a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press t he power s witch on the b ack of the pr ojector to the on position, then press t he Po w e r button on the top of the pr ojector or the remot e. The LED fla shes gr een and the fans s t art to r un.
11 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t he pr ojector as “new hardw are” a n d the Add Ne w H a rd wa re W i z ard a pp e ar s .

13 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the heigh t of the pr ojector , if n ecessary , by pres sing the rel ease but- tons on ea ch side of t h e pro ject or ’s fr ont to extend the elevator feet . Position the projector the d esired distance fr om the screen a t a 90 degr ee angle (perpend ic ular) to th e screen .

16 Displaying a video image Remove the lens cap. Press t he power s witch on the b ack of the pr ojector to the on position, then press t he Po w e r button on the top of the projector . The LED fla shes gr een and the fans s t art to r un. Whe n the lamp comes on, the sta rtup scr een is displayed an d the LED is stea dy gr een.
17 Adjust th e zoom or focus b y press ing the power Zoom or power Foc u s buttons on the keypad until the desired ima ge size and focu s ar e produced. Y ou can also ad just the zoom and focu s via the menus . See page 32 If the image is not on the scr een or viewing a rea , adjust the it by pre ssing the lens shift butt on on the keypad.
18 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector automati cally bl anks the screen afte r no active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. Th is blank scr een helps pr eserve the life of the pro - jector . The image r eturns when an active source is detected or a remot e or keypad b utton is press ed.

26 Using the k eypad buttons Most bu ttons are des c ribe d in detai l in other sections, but h ere is an ov er- view of the ir functions: pow e r –turns t he proj ector on (page 10) an d off (p age 1 6). lens shift –shifts the pr ojected imag e up or down zo om –moves the proj ected image closer or further a way .
27 Using the remote control The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA b atteries. Th ey are easily in stalled by slidi ng the cover of f the rem ote's b a ck, al igning the + a nd - ends of the batteries , sliding them into place, a nd then repl acing the cover .
28 Using the audio T o play s ound from the projector , con nect your source to th e Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust th e volume, use t he buttons on the keypad or remote. T o adjust th e balance, or loudness, use the Audio menu (s ee page 35).
29 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the im age using the onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 31. • Adjus t the Keys tone, Cont rast, or Br ight ness in the Pi cture me nu.
30 Optimizi ng video imag es After the video device is connect ed properly an d the image is o n the screen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the men us, see page 3 1. • Adju st the K eystone , Contr ast, Brig htness, C olor , or T int in the P ictur e menu.

Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desir ed submenu, then press the Selec t butto n.

33 Presets : The pr ovided Preset s optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, film images, an d video images. (Film input is materia l originally ca ptur ed on a fil m camera , like a movie; v ideo input is materi al origin ally ca ptur ed on a v ideo camera , like a TV sho w or sporting event.
34 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) cha n ges the c larity of the edges of a video image. Select a s harpness settin g. Color S pace : This opt ion applies to compute r and component vide o sour ces. It al lows you to sel ect a colo r space that has bee n specifical ly tuned for the input si gnal.
35 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustments to the Ba lance a nd V olume. Also a llows you to turn on and off the Intern al spe akers, and projector startup Ch ime. Sources : allows you to a ssign a partic ular inpu t to a specif ic sour ce key when using the Inte grato r remote.
36 Screen Sav e : automat ically blanks the scr een after no signal s are detected for fiv e minutes. The ima ge retu rns when a n active sour ce is detect ed or a r emote or keypad butt on is pr essed. Screen Save is disab led when P ower Sav e is enab led.
37 PiP : (Pictur e in Pictur e) allows you to overlay a sma ller window showi n g the video s ource on t op of the lar ger computer sour ce window . Only v ideo sour ces 2 a nd 3 (c omposite a nd S-vide o) support PiP . Y ou must have b oth a computer and video sou rce connected to use PiP .
38 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet conn ector that su pports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corpora te network. The follow ing fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked and a vailable for manual entry of data.
39 Maintenance NO TE : When you are performing main tenance activities on your pr ojector , keep in m ind tha t you shou ld only r emove scre ws that are single-sl ot, or flathea d, scr ews. Any othe r type of scr ew , such as a phillips or star should not be re moved.
40 6 T o re move a lens, push th e lever inside th e lens housing a nd turn the lens cou nter clockwise until it stops. Remove the l ens. 7 T o instal l a new lens, place it in the opening thr ough the front of the pr o- jector , align ing the red dot (near the base of the lens) wit h th e red dot on the proj ect or .
